My wife, 74 year old father-in-law and I spent a week at this hotel in July 2011. We were met at the train station by the female owner and taken to the hotel a short five minute drive.
Booking in was fast and efficient and we were shown our room (No106) which is in the newer part of the hotel.
My wife and I room was very clean consisting of two very large single beds pushed together, a very comfortable mattress, duvet and pillow. We have patio doors that lead out to a balcony which spectacular views of the Alps. Our on suite was clean functional and had a walk in shower but no bath. There was ample storage space in room for our clothes. There was a small television in the room, we never put it on once, there is no need with that view. We were able to get wifi in our room.
The hotel is in the centre of town about a ten minute walk from the station. It has a dinning area a separate a la carte dinning room, lounge area, there is self service washing and tumble driers that need a small amount of money to operate, soap powder is supplied. There is also a sauna and Jacuzzi bath although the sauna was not on (in July no need). There was also a bar area and outside you could sip drinks after a days walking taking in the vista.
The food was excellent the male owner is the main chef. We have four/five courses every night which consisted of soup, salad, main then dessert all were off a high standard and seconds were always offered. We had a la carte one night when it was my father in laws birthday I had deep fried pike which was excellent. I consider myself a bit of a foodie and I could not fault what was presented. A good selection of wines as well.
The staff were excellent especially Mandy our waitress who was very attentive. The female owner even remembered it was my father in laws birthday, she must have looked at all the dates of birth on our check-in cards. Excellent piece of observation.
The tap water is better than ours in Scotland and I never thought I would say that.
There is also a free computer linked up to the internet on the first floor with aa printer with free paper perfect for printing off boarding cards.
The area itself is excellent for walking, my holidays usually consist of lying on a beach this completely out the norm for us. We did the Gemini Pass and several other walks on the good days, when it rained or was overcast we travelled through by train to Lake Maggario in Italy only two hours or Berne. The swiss rail system is the best in the world.
Would I recommend this hotel? The answer is yes it ticked all the boxes as did Switzerland.
As a side note Switzerland is very expensive 10 Swiss Francs for a Gin and Tonic but it was like that everywhere in Switzerland.
