June 2009 will be our fith visit to the Hotel Beau-Site since 2003. It is positioned just out of Adelboden's main village centre directly opposite to the bus station within fairly easy sight seeing distance to the rest of the Bernese Oberland once back down the valley to Frutigan, however if like us you enjoy a trip up the many local cable cars and a gentle (or not) walk back down through the mountains , pastures and villages stopping to watch cheese making and enjoying the splendid views then you will not need to travel very far at all. We now stay in one of the premium rooms which although a little more expensive are quieter as they do not overlook the village steet and are a touch more spacious with superb views up the Engstlige valley. The buffet breakfasts are something to really enjoy with quite a vast choice, we have found that a few bits and pieces from the very reasonably priced Co-op for lunch will easily keep us going until dinner. One of us is a vegetarian and although the Swiss cannot seem to quite grasp the idea of this and although the hotel does not specificly cator for it they always make great efforts to serve a suitable meal, which in any case are always delicous. The staff are always extremely helpful even if they do not sometimes grasp English which of course is far superior to our non existant Swiss German, and the hotel and rooms we have found spotless. As intimated the meals are extremely well presented with the occasional special evening, we were present at the first barbeque ever held at the Beau Site and are still recovering. June is a particularly good time of year as it is reasonably quiet but the uncut pastures and meadows are carpeted with wild flowers and if the timing is correct the cattle herds can be watched climbing upto their summer pasture on the Engstligenalp. This is definately our favourite holiday destination and we have never found fault with the Hotel Beau Site.
