We have stayed at the Residence on many ocassions - always enjoyed it. As previous reviewers say there has been a programme of renovation in recent years the latest in the reception and dining areas. This is in rustic (wooden) style and while the hotel itself is of rather concrete type sixties/seventies style, the last up date fits in well. The big plus is the great view across the valley to distant mountains from the balcony of the comfortable rooms. Our only reservation would be, that as previously mentioned by another reviewer seems to be used more and more by groups - when we arrived a very large school group and before leaving a soccer team based there. All well behaved but especially the school group do rather take over and the usual, better value buffet evening meal suspended during their stay - a la carte only. I mentioned this to the recently installed new manager and suggest it might be pointed out, if they know that, when you book! In fact the children well behaved but obviously a fair bit of laughter and fun. The new manager seems receptive and keen to listen. Staff also very friendly and helpful. Bear in mind the hotel at the upper end of Leysin, which is on a hillside, so be prepared to walk up and down, or use the free shuttle bus, or in our case a rented car - an easy run from Geneva Airport.
