Having read the reviews here, and after more than 20 stays at the hotel over the past eight years, I have to say that despite some shortcomings, the Lindner is a pretty good deal. The point about Leukerbad is the spa, the fantastic summer hiking (Gemmi pass, Daubensee are a must visit), decent skiing and fantastic alpine views, so at the end of the day, you want a comfortable place to refresh and restore. OK, some of the rooms could be upgraded, and there could be better service in the spa (the towel situation could be improved), but when you add the in-hotel pools, sauna and steam, the phenomenal breakfast buffet, and a well-appointed gym, all included in the price, its a great haven after an active day or just a relaxing restful weekend. There's valet parking too, for a small price. All guests get robes and slippers included as well. As for the cost, discounts are there if you look hard enough. The hotel restaurants are very expensive, but try Croix Federal just around the corner. Crowded, noisy, but very friendly, great food from pizza, pasta and fondue to meat dishes served on a sizzling hot stone, good local wines and for Switzerland, ok prices. Both are our places of choice after many visits there.
