“Not Bad But Very Expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Fairly standard Best Western hotel, extremely drab exterior, rooms are OK but the lack of air-con is a killer in summer as this part of Switzerland gets very humid. Tiny bar, but good choice of drinks. Food is very plain, but then what do you expect in CH. Staff are very friendly and helpful. a 6-8minute walk from the train station or 2 mins in a taxi. Lovely garden area to sit in and enjoy a 7 euro beer.

Room Tip: All rooms are very quiet but no aircon

Dear guest,

Thank you for your inputs regarding your recent stay at our property. It helps us seriously to optimize our standard.

The hotel Du Parc has a regular cooling system but no classic air conditioning in the rooms and it is according to that any efficient. Since we have during summertime only a few very hot days, (not humid, Baden has a continental climate depending to the Alps, which work on the Maritime / Mediterranean climate like a wall) there is normally no air conditioning necessary. If our guest require, there are additional fans available.
Referring to the plain food, this is in fact everybody’s matter of taste and if various nationalities hit each other in cause of taste, like in an international hotel, it is challenging, but we are open minded for all inputs and probe our food regularly.
We are happy that you have enjoyed a drink in our nice garden area and we can calm you, that the prices are clearly indicated in Swiss Francs so it is not that expensive how it seems.

We hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.
With our best regards from Baden

“A rather weird hotel in many ways”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We booked one night at the Hotel du Parc as part of a package offered by the Baden tourist office, with tickets and a picnic lunch at the Museum Langmatt -- our reason for going to Baden. It is a large, modern, business hotel. We later decided to arrive a day early and then decided to stay another day so we could drive to Zurich, visit the Buhrle Collection, and return before heading for Lucerne.

I’d love to say I loved this hotel, but it had some very strange features. The flat-screen TV was on a curved panel protruding from the wall. The bed lamps were wall lamps with many-colored lights that flashed from color to color.

They advertise air-conditioning, but the unit is called a “cooling ceiling.” According to the guest literature in the room, it cools more slowly, but is more energy efficient. I think it was about as effective as an ice cube being dangled in front of a vent. Although it wasn’t terribly hot outside, the temperature in the room was 80 degrees, and opening the windows didn’t help, even though we were facing north and into a park. The literature also said that fans were available, so we requested one and one of the reception staff dragged a fan on a stand to our room. It really helped, and it ran all the time we were in the room.

But the strangest feature was an absolutely clear heavy glass bathroom door -- I can’t conceive of anything more ridiculous. Not only does it eliminate all privacy, but if one person gets up during the night to use the bathroom, it guarantees that the other person is awakened by the bathroom light. Only an complete idiot could have thought this one up!

But the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, the food good (although very expensive -- they substituted roesti for roast potatoes with our Wienerschnitzel and charged us 5 Euros each). We paid for parking in their large underground garage, as there was no street parking available.

Dear guest, we have read the comments you have made on your stay at the Hotel Du Parc. First of all, I would like to thank you for the time you have taken for writing your impressions.
Although negative inputs are never nice to receive, it helps us always to improve our quality standards and avoid making the same mistakes in the future again.

The hotel Du Parc has a regular cooling system but no classic air conditioning in the rooms and it is according to that not this efficient. Since we have during summertime only a few very hot days, there is normally no air conditioning necessary. If our guest require, there are additional fans available. We are glad hearing that it helped during your last stay.

Some of our rooms have a glass bathroom door. We are checking at the moment various long term solutions for this “problem”. It shows, that modern interior design is not always easy to handle in the daily business.

Referring to the extra charge of 5 CHF for the change of the side dishes we must say, that we are not sure if this might be a misunderstanding. We do not extra charge any changes of the side dishes in the restaurant. The only extra charge of 5 CHF we have in our hotel is for room service, we will make sure that this charge is clearly apparent on the check.

Thank you very much for your compliment for our reception team, they really appreciate it

Hopefully, we could act on your suggestion to your entire satisfaction. We appreciate you as our guest and are looking forward to a second chance welcoming you again in our hotel. We improve the efficiency constantly.

With our best regards, Manuela Frey

“Not suitable for international travellers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

Hotel doesn't have airconditioning. In the months of June to October, it would be difficult to sleep.

Rooms are not standard but the rates are. You will be charged euros 200 for an adult's room as well as room that is suitable for children only.

Since there are only limited hotels in Baden, probably, you are taken for a ride.

Room Tip: Best is to avoid this hotel but if you cann't confirm room no., size, amenities, everything that...

Dear Sir,

I have read the comments you have made on your stay at the Hotel Du Parc. First of all, I would like to thank you for the time you have taken for writing your impressions.
Although negative inputs are never nice to receive, it helps us always to improve our quality standards.

We would like to explain, that our hotel has air conditioning-system, but since we have a system with cooling ceiling (witch is less energy consuming), the effects are not as quick and efficient as you may know from the traditional cooling systems. In Switzerland we only have view days in summer with hot temperatures, therefore the need for a classic air conditioning is limited to some days. Since our hotel is situated in a very quiet quarter, we recommend opening the windows in order to spend a pleasant night. For your next stay at our hotel, we recommend to ask for a room to the riverside on the 1st or 2nd floor, since these rooms are generally cooler then the rooms on the top floor.

We are very sorry for not exceeding your expectations. We appreciate you as our guest and are looking forward to a second chance welcoming you again in our hotel.

Kind regards,

Barbara Frehner

“Strange room, hotel in need of refurb”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

I soent a night in what the barman referred to as the 'lurrrve room' - all v budget smutty movie and 1990s. I discovered that a circular bed is remarkably uncomfortable, even on your own, but really appreciated the hot tub on the roof!

Although negative inputs are never nice to receive, it helps us always to improve our quality standards.

We understand that the particular design of our junior suite may not please everybody, but in general we have very good feedbacks for this room. All of our hotel rooms have been renovated in the last 3 years and we can offer different types of rooms in order to satisfy the different needs of our guests. So if you wish a room with a more classic design please let us know upon your next reservation.

We are very sorry for not exceeding your expectations. We appreciate you as our guest and are looking forward to a second chance welcoming you again in our hotel.

“A sweet little gem in Baden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2011

Baden is a delightful town and this hotel is perfectly located to see it. From the front door it's an easy walk to most of the attractions. The rooms are simple yet tastefully decorated and the windows open so you can enjoy the fresh air and hear the birds sing. (can you tell I'm writing this from my hotel room?)
Breakfast is included and internet is free.
