Stayed one night in Yverdon, Grand hotel des bans. Overall expression is fine. The staff was very friendly and most helpful. Check-in and check-out was efficient and prompt. The nesessary information about the hotel was given, however the help with the luggage was not offered. The room was very clean, but rather small. Bathrobe, slippers and toiletries were provided. The food proved to be a real disappointment. We paid around 150CHF for dinner, which consisted of one starter, two main dishes and one half-bottle of wine. However the main dishes (duck & turbot) were poorly served and the fish was awful. It smelled of fish fat and tasted as if it was not fresh but frozen one. Besides the food, the belle epoque hall where we had our dinner and the breakfasts are served is in need of renovation asap. It looks like a worn-out conference hall in a budget hotel with dirty walls. There is a lovely outside swimming-pool at the hotel, however they put too much chlorine in the water. In such a place they are supposed to use all the latest techniques in water cleaning and disinfecting. To sum it up, i would never have paid 350CHF for the night in this hotel again.
