“Very Happy Guests”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We want to thank Eurotel Victoria, and the staff in particular, for a fantastic stay last week during our skiing holiday in Villars.

Our room was on the 5th floor located at the back of the hotel overlooking the mountains and telecabin. The room was old fashioned but spacious and equiped with a flatscreen tv, twin beds, mini bar, desk and table and chairs. The bathroom was very compact but extreemly clean and well designed with modern fixtures and fittings. Our room was pleasantly warm throughout the stay and the heating can be adjusted via the radiator. We had an issue with the electricity shorting out the bathroom but that was promptly dealt with by the handyman while we were out skiing. Everyday our room was serviced including vacuuming, and new bedding and towels where necessary (I was very surprised at this as I was expecting the room only to be cleaned once or twice.) I would very much like to thank the housekeeping staff for this as they often get forgotten in the process of things. The only dissapointment for the room was the fact it did not have any tea of coffee making facilities.... after a hard day of skiing it would have been nice to have a hot drink in the room whilst relaxing infornt of the tv. Also, the noise from the corridor was extreemly loud but that was from the other ignorant guests (thank you Dentsply Endodontics conference pricks), however, luckily we were very tired from all the skiing so we pretty much slept through the urge to get out of bed to crack some skulls. The only other thing about the room was the horrific pillows which some other reviewers have mentioned.

The breakfast was magnificent! Good coffee, hot chocolate or ovomaltine as well as a massive selection of mueslie, fresh and dried fruits, yoghurts and jams, apples, ham and cheese, salmon and scrambled or boiled eggs, and then fruit juices and croissants or bread. You really couldn't ask for more and we very much looked forward to breakfast every morning! Thank you to all the staff who get up very early to make it all possible!

Evening Dinner was not dissapointing either. Four courses every night was irresistable and we made such pigs out of ourselves! A salad buffet (scrummy) or starter, then soup, then a choice of fish or meat for main course, then cheese buffet or sweet dessert for pud. All was of very good quality and it's clear alot of time and preperation goes into the food. Also, the waiting staff were very very good, they gave the extra touch to the whole experience and we left them a tip to show our appreciation.

The pool area was clean and inviting and even had towels for use so you didn;t have to bring your own. The sauna was perfect after a cold day on the slopes and the changing areas were clean with very good showers.

The location to the slopes could not be better. The bus stop is almost opposite reception and is free to the telecabin and town (it runs past every 20 mins), if you fancy a walk its a leisurly 10 mins to the telecabin otherwise. On the way home, we discovered after day 3 that you can actualy ski back tot he bus stop which is 30 seconds walk from reception.... a bonus they do not advertise!! Also, the town is the same distance in the opposite direction with the ski hire shop bang in the middle. You really couldn'y ask for more.... there were more expensive hotels in worse places.

The staff are very much the jewel in the crown for this place. The reception staff were very helpful and understanding (we broke our credit card) and helped us when our tour operator coudln't be bothered (thanks CRYSTAL SKI.... not), and the general level of spoken english was very good.... we had a good laugh at an elderly couple who decided to act out like chimps that they wanted a bottle of dry white wine with their meal rather than just asking if the staff understood. Oooohh ooooo ooo??? Eeeeeeh eeee eeeee ooooh? No wonder we get a bad reputation abroad. Other reviewers (especially the british) don't seem to understand the star system in europe for this kind of hotel. In england this would be at the very most a 3 star hotel but in europe it always gets graded higher. We knew the difference and it exceeded our expectations.

In general we were very happy with our stay at Eurotel Victoria and would return if we stay in Villars again. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family if you want a good location and great service.

Room Tip: Don't bother to pay for the upgrade, the standard rooms are facing the mountian aswell.

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Ski bus stop directly in front of hotel, only 2mins on bus to Gondola station - standard rooms on the small side but adequate - bathroom also very compact. Staff very efficient and friendly- bar staff superb. Buffet breakfast very good, and evening meals had plenty of variety and chef's attention to detail and creatativity excellent - the restaurant staff are probably the best staff you will find in any Hotel.

“Decent hotel”

I stayed in this hotel with family for 2 nights. The hotel looked superb on the website but when we checked-in, it was a disappointement. It is a decent hotel with not-so-large rooms. We got a room facing the room and the greenery;no view of the mountains. The best part of the stay was food. The buffet breakfast was good. The other meals were vey good mailnly because of the indian cook arranged by Thomas cook. If you plan to stay there, book a room facing the mountains.

Room Tip: Book a room facing the mountains

“Pleasant hotel in a fine location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

The hotel is situated a 10 minute walk up hill from the railway station. The last 200 yards are quite steep and the main entrance requires you to walk up and round the hotel into the back. The staff are friendly and helpful when they are not busy checking people in and out. My room was long and seemed a bit narrow as a result. The door opened outwards into the corridor, rather then inwards into the room. This gives the feeling in the corridors of being in a prison also due the minimalist decoration. Television reception for some channels not always reliable due I imagine to the alps or the weather. Bathroom was impeccable, but a bit smaller then I would have anticipated. The Italian restaurant is down two levels and a bit of maze to get to it, but the food is good. i was a bit underwhelmed with the breakfast. I did not mind it being self-service, but nothing seemed particularly fresh, including the coffee and bread. There isn't much in the village, but if you like being outdoors in the countryside, then this is a great place.

Room Tip: Take the little train from Bex to Villars, its a unique experience goes along the main road in place...

“Alpine views and good Italian style restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Super large room with spacious balcony to catch the sunshine for most of the day. Food in the Italian Restaurant was good and well presented, with nice service. Staff courteous and warm (the barman remembered everyone's drinks!), with my room on floor 6 (the elevator only goes to 5) I would have had to lug my suitcase up the last flight of stairs but help was at hand as a kind person working in the hotel did the job for me! The room was very hot at night and, if one opened the patio doors, it was quite noisy outside as the hotel is in the middle of the village. Unfortunately, although the bathrooms had been renovated, the bedrooms had not and so there was an air of tiredness about the place, which looked very seventies in style, plus the lighting in the room was poor for working by.

Room Tip: Floor 6 has big rooms and big balconies.
