We spent very nice time at this hotel. Rooms are rather rustic for a 4 star hotel, but the SPA is great and staff is very friendly and helpful.

Very large rooms, a good spa unit, friendly staff. Very central, just a few steps to the train that takes you to the ski area. Easy skiing in a big area. Excellent breakfasts, lunch and dinner traditional Swiss, i.e. a bit formal- There are plenty of alternatives within 5 minutes walking in Villars.

As you climb the mountain you just "know" you are going to run out of civilization, but then you find that in Switzerland they build whole towns (or even cities) "up the mountain". Villars is a lovely little Swiss town where the railroad runs down the middle of the street. And that's where you find the Hotel du Golf. If there is a golf club associated with it, it is not at this site. There is a beautiful view of the mountains from floors 3 & 4, but not 1 & 2 since they are constructing a building between the hotel and the mountain view. All the rooms have a balcony and some view. The food is very good, served in a homey dining room. The portions were adequate and hot, and nicely garnished. The fresh vegetables were properly cooked and tasty. Salad bar had a good variety. The rooms were clean & nicely furnished, ut slightly short of electrical plugs - none in the bathroom. Free wifi in the lobby, but charges in the room. Beware of costs in Switzerland, it is very expensive; Big Mac in Zurich was 11.50 SWF, bowl of soup in Gruyer $20 USD, egg, ham & egg omelet in Villars 18.50 SWF - about $21 USD.

Hotel du Golf is still a good hotel. Service and personal very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are clean and pleasant with balcony and the view is super. (By the way for those who were not pleased, the crane has gone). Service in the restaurant excellent as well as was the à la carte dinner. One negative point: Dogs should not be allowed in the restaurant!
