Possibly the most perfect one night stay I've experienced in 10 years of European travel. Exquisite small, family-run hotel with a friendly and efficient staff. The same staff also run the fabulous, well-priced dining room and kitchen that my neighbors told me is deservedly famous for its Raclette & Fondue. (I had a yummy steak with local chanterelles) Impressively, my lovely experience in this 20 bed, 10 room hotel was on day 9 and 10 of the UBS Verbier Summer music festival -- when the staff and hotel had been operating at full-capacity and full-tilt for many days without break. The breakfast Birchmuesli and omlette bar made for the nicest hotel breakfast I've had in years, anywhere in Europe. The hotel has stocked its charming rooms with fluffy duvets and towels, a decently priced minibar, and provides a small library with a free internet enabled computer for guests. With great food, gorgeous views and only the sound of a rushing mountain stream and occasional churchbells, real relaxation after an intense work assignment in Geneva was easily achieved. Plus, nothing beats the drama of swooping in and out of Verbier in a glass bubble from the sky. If you have this summertime option, skip the bus from Le Chable and take the cable car. I felt a bit like Glinda the Good Witch.
