“Great Hotel! Best hotel in Verbier area. Miles above the rest... so far.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Getting a ski-in ski-out hotel in Verbier is not easy, and I think d'Adrien is the closest to one of the gondolas going up the snow. The rooms have great view of the whole village, staffs are friendly, food is great, and live up to expectation. It is 'miles' better than the #2 or #3 hotel in terms of rooms and pampering in the area.

Must try the 'White' Vin Chaud. Very refreshing, while keeping you warm from inside-out.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms that faces outside - down the village. Spectacular view.

“Best Ski Hotel Ever Stayed In!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Stayed here for a weekend in Verbier in Jan 2012, after booking it at less than one week notice.
Verbier books up quickly - so we were lucky to get it; but then it wasn't particularly cheap!

I really loved staying at this hotel; from the moment we arrived, the service was super friendly and helpful. We arrived late in deep snow; they unloaded our car and took the bags up, showed us round the room, put our skis in the locker, made sure we had a table for dinner; nothing was too much trouble.

Staying 2 nights, we ate at both restaurants and spent a good amount of time in the bar. Especially we at in their michelin star restaurant which was absolutely amazing; not just perfectly cooked food, but incredibly creatively presented - e.g. sardines cooked in the way of 6 different countries.

For skiing the chalet is perfect - right next door to the Savolyres lift (great for off piste) and they are super helpful with the mini bus to take you to other lifts.
It snowed a lot when we were there but sadly meant we didnt get to eat on the terrace.
As for the rooms; they were also a very good size, same for the bathroom, so extremely impressed with the place!

“Le Chalet d'Adrien- The place to go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I had business in Geneva and decided to go to Verbier on the weekend. Chalet d'Adrien is a beautiful hotel with fantastic views. The lunch on the terrace was incredible! The weather was dreary and some days there were white outs and going skiing was not an option. Chalet d'Adrien was only a 10 min walk away from the center of the Village. The hotel was in a great locating and offered fantastic access to Savoleyres (amazing side of the mountain). We were able to beat the morning rush which begins at 10am and there is a huge line to get on the lift. Amazing experience in Verbier and would be happy to return any day!

“Nearly a gem.”

This is an attractive hotel in a resort with very few quality establishments. As you will have read, the two restaurants, escpecially Le Grenier, are top class. It serves probably the finest fondue with shaved black and white truffles of anywhere in the world.

However, this is a hotel which has been refurbished to provide luxury accomodation, not built to such specification. Therein lies the problem. You are stuck with old bedrooms, small bathrooms, thin walls and ancient services. Like with a few Relais Chateaux properties, the culinary experience is far better than the one of residence.

If you go to Verbier, Chalet D'Adrien is definitely worth considering. It is very charming. Breakfast is great with the owner's Westie Terrier running around on the hunt for a stray croissant and it sits in a prime location beside the Savoleyres lift with its access to wonderful off-piste skiing. Yet at the end of the day, it is a good but not one of the truly outstanding hotels in the Alps.

“Not perfect”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2009

I went to this hotel the year it opened (about 8 years ago) and was impressed. A lot has changed since then. I think the expectations for the top of the market have grown and the Adrien has slipped (except its rates). It's probably the best hotel in Verbier but the competition isn't too stiff.

Starting with the positive
- service (that you see) is charming
- breakfast was delicious. I may have been the only guest in the hotel (it was late August) so it was served as a sort of set menu rather than a buffet. But the quality was high
- facilities are good (gym, pool etc.) They are a bit small but there aren't too many rooms in the hotel

Negaitve
- rates are ambitious. It took a lot of haggling to get a 20 sqm room off season for CHF300. Season rates are more than double or triple. And the rooms don't really live up to the rates.
- room was horrifically cleaned. Despite the "sanitised for your protection" label on the toilet (cheesy for a 5* hotel), the sink was broken and toiletries were half used. Yuk.
- bedding, linen, towels etc not really very luxurious.

I really wanted to like it - I had good memories of it. It still has great charm and potential. It just has the feel of being run for high rates with costs being trimmed around the edges. At the right price, it's fine. But if you are paying top dollar, you might be disappointed.
