This is an attractive hotel in a resort with very few quality establishments. As you will have read, the two restaurants, escpecially Le Grenier, are top class. It serves probably the finest fondue with shaved black and white truffles of anywhere in the world.
However, this is a hotel which has been refurbished to provide luxury accomodation, not built to such specification. Therein lies the problem. You are stuck with old bedrooms, small bathrooms, thin walls and ancient services. Like with a few Relais Chateaux properties, the culinary experience is far better than the one of residence.
If you go to Verbier, Chalet D'Adrien is definitely worth considering. It is very charming. Breakfast is great with the owner's Westie Terrier running around on the hunt for a stray croissant and it sits in a prime location beside the Savoleyres lift with its access to wonderful off-piste skiing. Yet at the end of the day, it is a good but not one of the truly outstanding hotels in the Alps.
