“A lot better than the reviews led me to believe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

I'd kept my expectations low as a result of the various comments that the hotel was more of a two-star hotel than a four-star hotel. As a regular hotel user, I would now, after my stay, tactfully disagree with that analysis and can only assume that the different apartments are furnished to different standards. My apartment (a junior suite on the first floor) was furnished to a high standard. The pine furniture was a little worn in places but it was quality furniture (real wood not IKEA chipboard). The beds, sofas and windows were all modern. Importantly, the rooms were all spotlessly clean and the kitchen was equipped with modern appliances.

The entrance to the hotel is indeed a little difficult to find as the building faces away from the street from which it takes its address. The easiest way to find the entrance is to head down Route de Verbier Station and take the path to the right of the Denner supermarket. The location is indeed noisy at night in terms of drunken Brits, but this is true of all centrally located hotels.

The summer rate of CHF 75 per suite per night is vastly lower than the winter rate, so the "value" category below may not apply in winter.

Thank you very much for your review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Kings Parc Hotel. All of the hotel suites are decorated similarly with the same furniture.
During the summer months the hotel operates as an apartment hotel and so during the winter there are many more staff including drivers and night porters which justify the winter rates.
We hope that you will return to the Kings hotel in the future.
Kind regard

“hard to judge fairly out of season”

I won a weekend here for the Verbier music festval, so can't comment on value for money as i didn't pay!

It's fundamentally a rather old fashioned place with dated decor and nothing special to excite. Attempts at a more modern look amount to bizarre bold zebra and butterfly prints in the reception, and very offputting modern pictures of women with their breasts on show in the otherwise old fashioned breakfast room, most inappropriate!

We found the reception staff friendly and helpful, though reception was often unmanned with a phone to call for assistance. The lift is tiny. Breakfast was competent self service, but had nothing extra or exciting beyond the obvious basics.

We had a pleasant 2 bedroom suite with a sitting room and kitchen equipped with everything except a kettle. There was a welcome basket with wine, jam, herbal tea and unfortunately smelly cheese which permeated the whole room once opened! Decent flat tv, otherwise rather dated in feel .

It seemed very quiet, but as its not the main season its hard to judge what vibe it would have when busy with the ski crowd. It seemed as least as good as any other options we saw around the small town. Well located near all the facilities of Verbier.

“There may be four stars shining in the sky above this hotel but that doesn't give it the right to say its a 4 star hotel”

I stayed at Kings for a week with my teenage daughter. We booked late so had to take the family room for four people even though we were only two. This worked well as she didn't disturb my sleep when she came back late. The family room had two tiny bedrooms, a very small bathroom and sitting room. The decor was decidedly jaded and a very peculiar mix of tatty old pine furniture with quite funky modern bed throws and curtains. It wasn't a good mix. The sofa was probably the most uncomfortable thing I've ever tried to sit on. At approx £545 per night ( and in fairness we could have had 4 people but it would have been incredibly cramped) which included a very basic continental breakfast I would have at least expected tea making facilities in the room. There isn't. The sitting area downstairs is unattractive - again a funky mix of very old furniture and wooden clad walls with really grotesque modern painted canvases of African wild life. It was just plain weird. Internet access was a ropey old computer in a corner which was extremely unreliable. The only two redeeming features were the friendly receptionists and the shuttle service to the slopes was fine although one of the drivers was impossibly grumpy - and sadly a young English man. Overall, a fairly dreadful experience. Definitely not worth the cost even if it were 4 people. Had it been cheap as chips and billed as 1 or 2 star then fine but Kings, Verbier just doesn't make the mark.

Oops, I should add that the family room is at the front of the hotel but also has an alleyway running along the side. One night i was awake until after 5 am with horrendous noise of drunk people shouting and singing. It was generally very noisy at night.

“Not a 4* hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2008

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in August. We are a family of four, with two young kids and had requested a luxury suite with two bedrooms. They actually gave us a nice apartment on the top floor with a living area, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a small kitchen. The apartment was nice and had a nice view since it was on the 4th floor.
But the hotel was in no way a 4 star hotel. When we arrived, there was a lady at the reception, that greeted us with no warmth or interest. There was no one to help with our luggage and the elevator didn't go up to the 4th floor, but stopped at the 3rd. So for one floor we needed to carry the luggage. Plus the elevator was so tiny, that only one person with one suitcase fitted.
The next morning, at breakfast, there was another girl at the reception, who was also bringing beverages for the breakfast since the food was already set at a buffet. I don't need to mention the motivation of this girl, since there was none.
At other times of the day, when we might have needed something, there was no one at the reception. They had a phone number for us to dial, but a couple of times no one was picking it up so we were wondering around the hotel looking for a person to help us.
We had booked this hotel with great expectations, after reviewing it at the internet, but we were hugely disappointed.
