If you are looking for a top quality resort in the Alps with excellent hotels and restaurants then do NOT go to Verbier. We know Zermatt and Vale (US) well. Verbier is an overpriced destination with plenty of 2 or 3 star hotels claiming to be 4 star. For the same prices that you would pay in Zermatt or Vale you get much less. The Hotel Les 4 Vallees is one example. For 350 swiss franc per day we got a room from the 1970s/80s and a poor breakfast without option to order cooked food. Some of the rooms are renovated and more expensive but nevertheless overpriced. Verbier is essentially run by a small number of local families that for years have somehow managed to charge very high prices without providing good value for money or being internationally competitive or having an idea of what top international 5 star resorts offer. If you want a top 5 star hotel in Verbier then maybe consider the Nevai (where we also stayed several nights) or the Chalet d'Adrien - they are very expensive but at least good value for money. You won't pay less in Zermatt (CH) or Vale (USA) but the restaurant choice is infinitely better in those resorts and the people running hotels and restaurants there know how to run top end places. We were baffled by the differences in quality and offerings between Verbier and Zermatt despite similar price levels. Hopefully it will just be a matter of time before Verbiers hotels and restaurants either dramatically improve or more people realize that many of Verbier's hotels and restaurants are poor value for money, low quality and not internationally competitive.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Only 5 minutes to the Medran station. The room (341) which we had is small but very nice furnished. Our room was always very clean, but way too warm. We had between 23 and 25 °C even during the night. We asked several times to cool down the room, the suggestion of the receptionist (not all of them are friendly) was to open the window. Unfortunately the room is to the street and people coming from the bars passed by until early morning, then the machines started to clean the street from the snow. We had to sleep with ear plugs.
The breakfast was good, every day with a fresh fruit salad.
The room rate in January was 450.- CHF for a double bedroom.
In my opinion is this not a 4 star hotel.

This is my second trip to verbier in as many years. Last year I stayed at the farinet and I loved it. Knowing the resort better, however, I knew that the best location would be between the place centrale and the Medran lifts. Don't look any further. This hotel's location is perfect. We never rode the bus our whole stay. The hotel is a short uphill walk to the main lifts and a short downhill walk to the place centrale where all the restaurants, bars and apres skis are located. Everything is good about this hotel but i'll try to give more detail:

Rooms:

Choose the south facing rooms. The view is pretty nice. We booked a "confort" room but friends of mine got a regular room and both are nice. If you're a couple, get the confort room. If you're a group of friends, regular rooms will do. All rooms are clean

Breakfast:

The breakfast room is fantastic. A bit small but has fantastic views. The buffet seems to have a limited choice on a first look but in the end it has everything you would ask for. The fruit salad is fantastic and so are the boiled eggs cooked to perfection.

Service:

The staff couldn't be nicer. They booked restaurants whenever we asked, prepared hot tea with honey even when the bar closed because i had a throat ache, let us use the sauna to shower and change the last day after we checked out and had a full day of ski. I onyl have positive things to say about them.

Conclusion:

Having been twice to verbier, I will try val d'isere next year. However I will strongly advice anyone planning to stay in verbier to go for a hotel as close to Medran lifts as possible and you can't find any closer than this hotel. Other hotels in the proximity include Rosalp and Les chamois. I met people having stayed in both hotels and had a good feedback.

Just returned from our ski holiday in Verbier. The 4 Vallees is a very pretty (typically Savoyard) good hotel with larger than expected rooms. (for Europe) .We were in one of the least expensive but it was very roomy with twin beds, sofa , desk ,2 armchairs, night tables ,safe and minibar. Everything is spotlessly clean.Bathroom was a bit dated in colour but a decent size with sink toilet, bidet, full tub, flexible showerhead secured high enough to allow for comfort without having to hold it, (shower curtain too which is sometimes missing in these hotels) , a window which opened.The hairdryer was useless but the staff gave me another which was excellent. Nice balcony with sliding glass doors overlooking the main street but far enough away from the centre that night noise was never a problem. Still only a 5 minute walk away from the centre of town . The Medran lift only a 3 minute walk. Staff are very helpful..the porter very kindly took our luggage to the shuttle stop for our departure. Breakfast offers minimal but adquate selection.. cold cereal, some cheese and meat, yoghurt, bread, croissants, rolls, jams, fruit salad , and boiled eggs on request. The hotel has an elevator, small ski/boot storage room (they will dry and warm your boots overnight). the lovely lounge area opens onto the mountain views and there is a bar where you can you can have an apresski drink or relax in the evening (bar is open until midnight) If you wish to ski on your last morning before departure, you can store your luggage and make use of their shower facilities to freshen up before you leave.
