“Stay here and use your money on heliski.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We were 7 guys travelling for 4 days of ski. We all have single rooms and 5 of them have been in this hotel several times. I knew in advance that some of the rooms had shower and some had toilet and some none of the above. I got of course the room with a small sink as the only facility except for the bed though.

Sharing toilet with other guests is kind of outside my comfort zone. (Still is). The bed was comfortable and with nice duvet. I know that some of the guys had trouble with sounds from the street outside (Car sound), but I was not disturbed since my room was facing the other side. The breakfast was not much. 4 different types of jam and cheese if you were lucky. Corn flakes as cereal. And of course there were coffee and tea.

The hotel is located in Verbier old town, so it is a 20 minutes walk (or even more) to the gondola. There is a bus stop within 50 meter. If you choose to walk, it is a great warm up in the morning.

The restaurant is known for good food and a lot of locals eat here.

If I will stay here again?
Sure. The rooms are clean, the bed comfortable and even if I have to share bathroom with other guests I will stay here.
Use your money on more important things like heliskiing. Isn't that's why people travel to Verbier in Winter.

Room Tip: Ask if the room comes with toilet and/or shower

“affordable stay in Verbier”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

located in the old village so about 15 minutes walk up to place-central.
its location can get a bit tricky if you want to go out to town after hours while getting to and back from the slopes is easy using the local free bus.

this is a very old-school hotel; the rooms/beds/shower - all very basic.

the restaurant is known for its Fondu ('best in town') which is indeed very good.

Room Tip: the common shower might be better than the one in the room :)

“Great location, great deal, great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2011

This is a charming little budget hotel, and what a deal in otherwise expensive Verbier. This hotel is in old Verbier, and is a nice walk to amenities including bank and bus stop. We got a basic continental breakfast, which is all we needed.

“Best value on a budget for a very expensive ski town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2011

I'm giving this place 4/5 stars because frankly its the best value we could find for staying somewhere on a budget in Verbier. We (a couple in early 30's) stayed here for a few nights in early January for skiing. Verbier is very, very expensive and this place suited our needs just fine. You make up for the affordability of the hotel with the high prices for eating out at night.

The rooms are for the most part clean (floors could use a good mopping), sheets, toilets/WC, shower room are all clean. The place is sufficiently warm in the winter - you can control the temperature with the heater in the room. We had a sink in our room, a little closet, two nightstands, and a view down the hill - although its not a big room. There is free wifi and a shared computer.
Breakfast consisted of coffee/tea, orange juice, cereal, fresh bread, packaged jams, and a couple slices of gruyere cheese.
The lady who ran the place was friendly and to the point. There is a little ski room inside the main door to store your skiis and an area in the front foyer to store your boots. The hotel is locked at night and you need an electronic code to get it so it felt secure.
If you take the bus up from Le Chable ask to get off at the first stop which is called Verbier Village (contrary to what you think this is the old first part of the village, not where all the shops and hotels are) or the Laiterie (something like milk or cheese stop - I'm pretty sure there are cows inside the laiterie beside the hotel - you can smell them when you stand at the bus stop). Its about a 15 min walk uphill to the main part of Verbier where the restaurants, grocery store, and the rest of the hotels are. Its a pretty walk at night along some old cabins, farm huts and a little creek, but a little slippery (very steep). During the day there is a ski shuttle that stops right outside of the hotel.

I do agree with the other post - the walls are thin. We could hear the Germans in the room beside us talking in their normal voices - bring ear plugs for sleeping. We didn't try the dinner at the hotel - we tried a couple of the restaurants in the main village, and being North American and not used to Swiss prices it was a shocker at first. Be prepared for Swiss prices for mediocre meals (pizza, pasta). Verbier seems to be a popular place for young Brits, and the nightlife is supposedly good. We found a couple good bars to have a drink.

“Great fondue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

The "Les Touristes" is THE place for fondue in Verbier. The place is rather small, but nice and with a lot of atmosphere - more the place where the locals go. The menu is rather small, but you should go there for fondue anyway. Prices are low.

Language is French, but with a little bit of creativity you will get along with English and German as well, the service is very helpuf.

"Les Touristes" is a recommendation for everyone who wants to escape the typical standard restaurants for the tourists (unlike the name would suggest).
