Having read the reviews below before our stay, compared with our own experience we could not disagree more with them!
Sorry that our review comes so late, as we stayed there in October.
We, my wife and I, spent a relaxing 3 day weekend at the Altana.
Arriving at the train station (this year by bus as the train station was under construction) we took the short walk to the hotel.
Walking trough the entrance we where welcomed warmly with a big smile. Ms. Lehmann brought us personally to our room and explained all the technical details available, Satellite TV with over 130 programs, radio/stereo tower and internet with d-Lan!!! (that’s the one trough the electrical plug) Is that what you call old fashioned?
The room looked like new for the fact that the hotel is over 10 years old! The furniture is still in best shape and smells good. The mattresses are not to hard and not to soft.
Our room was very clean. Not even on top of the full length mirror was dust! The balcony could use a new floor, true enough!
What shall I say to those amazingly big bath towels (seemed to be 2x1meter). I would make sure too, that my guest’s aren’t taking them along, if they where mine!
To charge a deposit for items not used in-house, is in most hotels around the world normal practice.
Well, with one point we had to agree, the Altana is located a bit out of town but you have the advantage to be directly at the train and bus station as well as only a 2 minutes walk form the cable car.
The dinners, we booked half board, were excellent. Especially the “Diner Cristal” was certainly something you could look a wile, to find similar good value for money. Ok, there is no bar but the lounge is a cozy place to stay if you are looking for a drink.
Our experience was so good, that we have booked for the winter season.
