I stayed at Hotel Berghof in December 2011 and was positively surprised. While it is true that the breakfast buffet is maybe not as overwhelming as it could be, it is reasonable enough and the reception and all other staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our (superior) room was spacious, clean and with a great view onto the mountains and the beds were new and super-comfortable. Overall the hotel is a bit expensive but I'd rather blame that on Saas Fee in general than on the hotel.
