“Family friendly hotel run by friendly family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

Located near to the 'entrance' of Saas Fee (cars are not allowed in the village and must be parked in the large underground car park - you can call the hotel from there and they will send a small electric vehicle to collect you) this hotel has great views over the surrounding mountain range (13 peaks > 4000m!). There is a kids play room, games room, garden with games in it, outside play area and even bigger playground just over the back of the small on hill on which the hotel perches. A 'creche' service operates in the week. The Supersaxo family who run the establishment are very friendly and welcoming and speak English, German and French. The food is ok - typical of other 3* Swiss hotels I have stayed in, but really you're there for the family atmosphere, you can totally relax. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good 'Kinderhotel'

“Best family hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2009

We have stayed at Alphubel twice before and we are going for the third time this December. There are too many positives and I will try to cover them all: a wonderful family of two generations (even three, if we count the grandchildren who are usually around) that runs the hotel and takes the quality of service to the guests personally; environment which is relaxed and friendly, but at the same time high quality; high quality of dining; wonderful creche for children run by the Supersaxos' English daughter in law, whom children absolutely love; activities for children, including cooking, sledging, skiing with GoSuLino; games room for kids in the hotel (Fussball, table tennis, children's pool, Xbox etc.); transfers to and from the ski lifts in the mornings and afternoons, as well as transfers to and from the central parking (Saas-Fee is car free) and finally, fellow guests, who mostly are repeat customers and have been coming to Alphubel for years.
Downsides: the hotel, although kept extremely clean and in excellent working order, is a bit dated; lifts are on the other end of the town so if not taking the hotel electric car, it is about 10-minute walk away; children will be picked up from the ski school in the afternoon and taken to the hotel, but a parent must be present for the handover, which is a bit of a hassle as means skiing down to the base of the mountain just for that.
Overall, if you are considering an alpine holiday with young children, this is as good as it gets.

“Excellent hotel - we were part of the family from the day one”

Great hotel for families with children. The whole place is ultra clean and well maintained. We enjoyed family touch of the owners, excellent cuisine and all nice services: ski lockers in the other hotel of same family, morning and afternoon shuttle to ski lift (although not really necessary because the distance is 10min walk and the ski equipment would be already there, in the Waldesruh hotel), evening animation, snow playground outside hotel, sledges, play room in the basement (also good for the adults if you're Guitar Hero fan) and finally the reception area with board games and little library (including some English books). Our rooms had decent size and were connected via internal door. WiFi for free worked perfectly. They also have daycare for the small kids, organized by English native speaker familiy member. All of that at very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

“Fantastic location, extremely friendly, attention to detail, Great Family hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2009

The Alphubel is in a great location with outstanding views over the village and over the mountains. We went for a south facing balcony room so we could sit out and be amazed at the views across the village and up into the mountains and catch a few rays in the afternoons.

The welcome we had from the Supersaxos was outstanding. Our two children (aged 6 and 4) had a wonderful time, and could not have been made more at home. Heather was fantastic with the kids and they were more than happy being picked up from the slopes and brought back to the play room in the hotel for an afternoon of stimulation. They particularly enjoyed the Pizza making on Thursday followed by the fireworks in the garden. We could sit and relax with a few drinks outside the play room while the children enjoyed the fun and games inside.

Herr Supersaxo is an expert mountaineer and is renouned for his guided walks and his evening entertainments (Alphorn, glockenspiel, Pan pipes, Swiss bells, dancing, fireworks).. And this is all done with the utmost charm. All the staff went out of their way to ensure that their guests have an enjoyable, entertaining and memorable stay.
Downsides? Based on the other side of the village from the ski slopes, but boots and skis can be stored at the free lockers held at their sister hotel which is at the foot of the slopes and they run their own free electric taxi service for guests. Altogether a wonderful, beautiful place. We will return
