Our stay at Allegra was 100% enjoyable. The hotel is located at the center of Pontresina, which is good in the evening, when it's time to find a restaurant for dinner (only breakfast is available in Allegra). Everything is a walking distance from the hotel. Our room was spacious, clear, very clean, comfortable, with beautiful wooden floor and modern decoration. Quiet too. The breakfast was great: a selection of many types of bread, cereals, fruits, jams, honeys, eggs, etc. Easy to tank up energy before a long hiking day. Staff was friendly and helpful. Included in the hotel fee were two passes for the Engadin public transportation system, including ski lifts: we were able to leave our car parked for our entire stay, which was relaxing.

Allegra was excellent. The breakfast had so many breads (whole wheat croissants, sunflower bread, etc), fruits, cereals, the best coffees. There was a homey bar in the lobby where you can enjoy a Bernina beer with the interesting top. The rooms are nice with views of the alps. The outdoor warm pool has a great view and there is a spot that goes around and around like a lazy river. There is also an optional spa. We stayed 5 nights while my friends skiied the Endagin cross country ski marathon. Pontresina is a nice spot for spectators, at it is the finish of the half marathon, and the others you can see ski through. This is a friendly, smaller, town compared with St. Moritz. Both are awesome destinations for cross country or downhill skiing. The train is convenient to get to the sledding of Preda-Bergun. The champagne fondue at THE TEA HOUSE is a must!Then buy some chocolate to take home at chocolate shop http://www.gianottis.ch/ I would recommend Pontresina for those interested in hiking or skiing around a beautiful town in the swiss alps. You can rent the hotel's laptop computer and bring to your room, too.

We were very impressed with this hotel. The staff are incredibly helpful, and the breakfast (included in the rate) was the best I've seen in a Swiss hotel (and that's saying a lot!). We used the washing machine and the free area transportation card. The room was a nice size, very modern and, of course, immaculate.

Stayed at the Allegra for 3 nights in July 2008. It was a wonderful hotel right in the centre of Pontresina and very close to the cable car with the added benefit of an underground secure car parking area for our motorbike. (no extra charge).
The staff were very friendly and helpful, as we arrived in a quiet period we were given one of the superior rooms with panoramic windows on the 4th floor for the same price as the cheapest rooms. The room was well equipped with safe, lcd tv, hairdryer and nice toiletries as well as large comfortable beds and the room we had was very spacious with glorious views out over the mountains.
It is a garni hotel so breakfast only - which was fantastic, the best choice in continental breakfast we have ever had, fresh fruit, at least 8 different kinds of bread, cereal, nuts, seeds, cakes, numerous flavours of yoghurt , cheeses, meats - you name it .
Breakfast only was not a problem as there are numerous restaurants very close by.
One of our favourite places to eat was the cafe puntschella just a couple of minutes away which did fab cakes as well as excellent main meals and was open until 8pm.
Another bonus of this hotel is it has a guest laundry with washing machine and tumbler, very useful when touring on a bike and a lot cheaper than using a laundry service. It also had a drying room for wet gear.
All in all I could not fault this hotel and would definitely recommend it to others.
Forgot to mention it also has wi-fi, at a cost of course but very useful.
