With a child of 18 months, we were somewhat reticent to book a hotel of this category. But what a pleasant surprise we had: management and staff alike were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. And the place seems to attract a crowd of absolutely "normal" guests, so that we felt perfectly at home in our ordinary jeans-and-shirt clothing.
Our room was very comfortable (I suspect we had a junior suite upgrade), although you have to like the Art-Deco-ish style of the place (we did).
Rather spectacular: the big and beautifully finished pool and spa area; the tiny little fitness corner isn't really worth mentioning. But the children's play room is: never seen anything like it in a hotel. (Some of the toys weren't exactly in mint shape, but that's probably unavoidable; for our daughter it was paradise on earth.)
Excellent food (and good wine list), although not with full à la carte choice - but they do serve the complete half-board 5-course dinner menu in your room. And if you have small children, you'll imagine what that can be worth... Also offered, although not used by us: babysitting services.

Overall, this is a big, classic, somewhat pricey hotel with very friendly management and staff and outstanding service, worth every penny.

Not too big hotel, nice buffet breakfast, very kind staff. They organize anything you need. It is close to the ski lift.
During the night is very hot because of the central heating. There is no own garage, but open park spaces what is not vary nice in the middle of winter. Temperatures in the night fall down to –20C and if your car is not in perfect condition…. Our room had a terrace, but it was completely covered in snow.

Like all hotels in Switzerland, this hotel is expensive, but in return for your money, you are generally rewarded with high quality. This is certainly the case at the Walther. We were warmly welcomed on arrival by the staff and Mrs Walther. Before we knew it, our car had been parked and all our luggage taken up to our room. Our room was very nice with comfortable beds and a great view. The service at the Walther was stellar. The staff all spoke English well enough to answer any questions we had. They had excellent suggestions for each day's activities (hiking trails in our case). Breakfast was phenomenal. We never ate dinner at the hotel, but it is apparently very good as well. The hotel is well situated next to good shopping, restaurants, a bus stop, and the gondola up to Alp Languard. We had a car but we never used it because the bus system in the area is so nice. Because we stayed two nights, we were given unlimited passes on all of the area busses, trains, ski lifts, and gondolas, which if you add it up, saves you a lot of money. Pontresina itself is a nice location. It's just as nice as St. Moritz, but much quieter, and it's extremely easy to get to any of the attractions in the area. I hope to come back and stay here again soon.

This family owned Relais & Chateaux hotel celebrates its 100th year this year...they have just cause to celebrate....it is absolutely first class.

Great location close to excellent local transport services to the mountains. A hundred yards from the main Pontresina centre.

Superb dining...fantastic breakfast....good Spa area....great views...spotless beautifully appointed rooms and suites and public rooms.

Superb frontage which sets the scene for what you will find internally.The hotel interior design is excellent.

A lot of care and attention to detail is apparent throughout all aspects of hotel service.

One of the family owners appear to be always around to ensure their own high standards are maintained.
