“Absolutely the best of the best!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Really loved this hotel. They give you first-class treatment all the way. Whatever you want is delivered immediately to your room. We got a standard double room and it was fantastic. Larger than the usual European standards. We called them when we arrived at the train station, and they had someone there to pick us up within 5 minutes. Enjoyed walking around the town of Pontresina - so lovely and charming. Ate dinner at their restaurant just up the hill - Chesa Veglia - food was great and loved the ambiance. They drove us there free of charge. Had lunch at the little hotel restaurant across the street - forget the name, but has a nice outside terrace. Can't fault the Hotel Walther for anything - it was a totally fabulous experience and would love to go back some day!

“Amazing views and Kid friendly!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2011

We were traveling with our two children, ages 9 and 10. We were greeted by the hotel owner who immediately made us feel welcome. Hotel Walter had the perfect large sunny room for us which included a sofa bed, extra single bed, adult and kid-size robes(although it was too hot to use them when we were there) and amazing views of the snow capped mountains! Everything was super clean and orderly. After a long day of sightseeing the kids enjoyed playing pingpong ball and foosball in the basement game room. At check out we were very appreciative when the hotel staff had prepared a bag of fruit, water bottle and snacks for our upcoming 3 hour train ride--- a nice touch! The cost was a bit expensive but the view was worth it!

“Enjoyable stay”

We spent a couple of days sking in Pontresina, which is a good location for exploring Engadin on skis even though there is no direct lift access in town. Runs of Diavolezza / Lagalp as well as the Corviglia area (access through Celerina) can be reached easily by bus in 10 minutes. The bus stop is only a few steps from the hotel.

The property is very well kept and everything is perfectly clean. Room was nice but a little bit dated and not completely up to the expected standard.

We very much liked the wellness area - good swimming pool and well designed.

Staff was friendly and generally helpful. Breakfast was great !!! The service and abilty of the bar was somewhat disappointing - they seemed only be able to handle a limited range of standard requests.

Overall impression was good and we enjoyed our stay at this property.

“A Gem in the Heart of the Engadin!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

As with other reviewers we found the Hotel Walther a very pleasant and beautiful place to stay. Our junior suite was spacious, nicely furnished and had two balconies with spectacular views of the mountains. The housekeeping service was impeccable, always prompt and unobtrusive - although surprisingly no chocolates on the pillow at turndown... (I found the beds and the pillows a little hard but my husband and son after skiing all day every day had no complaint. ) The hotel pays particular attention to its large dining room where the food and service are outstanding! We stayed on the half-board plan which included breakfast and dinner - a great value and a very convenient morning and evening routine. Most people dress for dinner, but it is not required. The breakfast was excellent and the menu choices for the five-course dinner were varied and delicious. The hotel offers room service, but no room service menu so don't be surprised when the Maitre d'Hotel brings a restaurant menu to your room to take your order - the lobster and chicken club sandwich was divine! We enjoyed the luxurious pool and jacuzzi (with a lovely view to the outdoors), as well as the sauna, etc. On the down side we were expected to park the car ourselves as the porter could rarely be found. Parking was tight and we ended up in the lot across the street (the gate for which had to be opened by the porter, ironically.) Still, all in all, a very well-run and beautiful hotel with a welcoming, professional staff and very elegant public areas as well as rooms.

“Still the best!”

We are guests at Hotel Walthers since 12 years.
When we spend time in an other hotel, we are always
comparing with our favorite Hotel Walther. Until today we
have not found a Hotel which is so professionell, friendly, clean
and serves the best dinners. The hotel bar is a great place to
meet other guests, everyday is a special drink served.
The wellness is also relaxing place to use.
We are bringing our little doggie, he is always
very welcome.
We recommend to everybody to visit this perfect service
minded hotel.
Greetings from Miami
