Seeschloesschen bills itself as a "superior five star hotel". Ok, let's put it to the test: service - excellent, all very nice and friendly, very well trained too. Food - lovely, great breakfast buffet (with free bubbly), lovely dinners. Location - wow, directly on the beach (take a room with sea view, it's worth it!!) and at a leisurely five-minute stroll to 'downtown' Timmendorf (it's small, full of luxury boutiques, but quite charming). The spa is gorgeous, and the outdoor swimming pool is lovely, especially as both is open until 10pm. But - and there just shouldn't be a 'but' for a five-star, should there? But: no water bottles in the rooms (nice fruit and biscuit plates though as a welcome), no conditioner in the rooms or even available upon request (when we asked for it at the reception we were told to go downtown - what, before or after showering??), my friend detected a few cracks in the wash basin, some sediment in the shower (the bathroom looked a bit tired all round) and a draft from the window. A few other small issues, nothing that would shock you too much, but just not quite "superior five star". Especially the water bottle and the conditioner should be an easy fix! The clientele is well-healed Hanseatic, mostly elderly, but a few families around too. Good hotel, but not great value for money.
