This may have been a top hotel and still claims to have a 5-star rating. Don't buy it. Although service was mostly good and the rooms are quite large, there were quite a few disappointments. My bathroom was no longer as clean as I would of expected. The little details were simply missing. This is not what you expect from a 5-star hotel. Fairly cheap products in terms of soap and shampoo as well. The furniture in the bedroom was also dated. The window out to the balcony is still from the 70's and the balcony door is the old school type where a lever raises the whole door so you can open it. Not really user friendly. The electronics in the room are also cheap and the minibar was the cheapest refrigerator I have seen in a hotel. Really quite shabby. Somehow the overall impression in the room simply wasn't what I would expect from a place like this. The garage of the hotel, as I came with car, was also old and dark. Lots of nice cars in there but the surroundings simply were not what I want to pay €14 a night for. Finally, we returned quite late as a group of seven. No one was at the reception to let us in. You can't use your room key to open the front door. Nevertheless, the night guy was supposedly on his tour of the hotel but he was obviously the only one working. Hence we waited for 30 minutes just to get inside. It was not really warm anymore and no one was happy about this. I can understand he has to do his rounds but when we also asked if we could still get food, he made it clear that if we were ordering something, he's be making it. In this price range to have ONE person in total working the night shift is a joke. I thought 5-star hotels had 24 hour receptions and room service. Oh well, I wish this place were better as the view from the rooms is spectacular and there are some positives. I found the breakfast buffet for example quite good and service there was very polite and helpful. Finally, we were here for an off-site and used a conference room for two days as well. Wireless LAN is annoying even though free. Hard to register and kept dropping the line. Further, the conference rooms don't have easily accessible power outlets so that you can work through the day. Have to either put your phone or laptop somewhere in the corner or go without power. Not good when working throughout the day as a group. Service also didn't go out of its way to keep our water and coffee supplies available. In summary, somewhat underwhelming at the Grand Hotel Seeschloesschen!
