We stayed at this hotel for four nights in June 2011. Overall it proved an excellent choice. First it is in an ideal location overlooking the river, on the left (north) bank. It is thus on the same side as, and in the heart of, the main (very attractive) town. If you want afternoon sun and views of the castle you need to be on the other side. We got exactly what we asked for, a high floor room with a balcony overlooking the river. The room was average sized, well appointed with very comfortable beds. The bathroom was on the smallish size but perfectly adequate. Breakfast (buffet) was included and was pretty good. There is free wifi on the terrace which is anyway a pleasant place for a drink and a spot of people watching.
The staff were always friendly and helpful and full of information about the many attractions in the area; all spoke english to some level.
We ate in the hotel on two nights and elsewhere for the other two nights. Our meals in the hotel were undoubtedly of considerably higher quality than elsewhere and were better value.
Parking in Cochem is a bit of a problem, as there is none really close to the hotel, but reception told us about a number of options which worked perfectly well.
All in all the hotel is good value for money, and we would certainly be happy to return.
