“Not Four Star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2010

The hotel is a nice run-of-the-mill place but in a poor location a long walk from the town. It would be better rated as three-star. The bathroom fan is very annoying - it is loud
enuf to hear in the room and cannot be turned off. You have to wait for it to run its course. The bathroom is clean but small and badly arranged. There is free parking and a good breakfast buffet. The staff was pleasant.

“Preis-Leitungsverhältnis lässt zu wünschen übrig!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

“Quite good but could be better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2010

Really nice hotel but over price for a dog ( €15 per night for a dog that doesnt use any facilities and doesnt eat there either, very expensive ), also no TV channels in English, lots in German and CNN only in English ( not the best channel for a movie )
Bathrobes in the rooms are size M which we couldnt fit, why not XL so that it can be too big for some people but better too big thn too small no??!! Carpet in room wasnt the cleanest and there were reddish stains on several places of the ceiling, pillows awful for a 4 star hotel, wayyyyy too flat even with 2 ( glad I had taken my own pillow from home but the husband hadnt ...), pool and jacuzzi super warm and quiet, that was super relaxing as it wasnt busy at all, breakfast the 1st morning was a buffet but the 2nd morning wasnt because not enough people in the hotel at the time so that was disappointing to have few breads on a plate with another place with ham, cheese, jam, salami, butter, buffet much better and so much choice....I would anyway go back because it was cosy, well located, staff was nice and friendly but I guess January wasnt the best month to go there....hotel quite posh of course but internet connection only in the lobby said it was secured, no idea why so I couldnt use it....hotel must be great in the summer because of gorgeous massive garden with seating aread, solarium, barbecue

“My own perfect shelter for everyday life.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2008

Cochem is wonderful! Especially in the early spring. We were in Moselromantik Hotel Kessler-Meyer, about 1200 meters from the center of town. The hotel owner gave us a clear streetplan so that we got the right directions for an enjoyable walk to the center and the river. In the centre of town you 'll find nice and narrow streets with kind shops, interesting galleries and recommended restaurants. There are also a lot of cosy terraces, where you can spend the best hours of the day to enjoy the fabulous mosel-wine.

The hotel itself is of a real 4-stars quality. A plentiful buffet-
breakfast, excellent lunch-possibilities and a perfect dinner makes your stay more than complete. The staff is kind and helpful. Different lounges make that you can whitdraw yourself from everyday reality with a good book or paper (and of course a glass of Mosel-wine). There is a nice garden too and a small swimmingpool with sauna, whirlpool and Roman steam-bath.
Parking is free and easy.

Just some remarks of my room number 14. This room is situated at the attic. The shower cabin is quit narrow for a tall Dutchman like me. The view through the big highlight is breathtaking! But that same highlight has no curtain, so that you are awaken at 5.00 am in the morning!!! I hope that the management will solve this problem soon.
Apart from these small inconveniences we have experienced our whole 3-day stay as fantastic!

We hope to visit the hotel soon again!

  • Liked — The peaceful location, the view and the food.
  • Disliked — I got lost between floors and halls.

“tourist trap”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2007

We booked for the more expensive room, hoping to be received in a 4 star hotel. The hotel owner describes it as a 4 1/2 star hotel.

Overall it deserves a three star rating : the (luxury room) was good and had a view on the Moselle. The bathroom however (new!) was very poorly finished (no wall tiles e.g., just plain white painted roughly finished concrete). One single washing basin, no bath, merely a shower. Very basic soap and shampoo, not the kind af products you'd expect from a "4 star" hotel. The Ibis hotels (2 stars) have better bathrooms, so one can compare.

The breakfast buffet was excellent and rich, here we were pleased.

We booked for half board, and this was the second extremely disappointing aspect of the hotel : too much salt, too much fat, very small portions, and the food not well cooked : e.g. we had a "house-made" Apfel Strudel were the dough was plain dough, not even baked into a crunchy Strudel. One German couple left the restaurant, on the second day of their staying, after having tried the starters...
The wine, although not bad, was way too expensive.

Conclusion : room and breakfast up the 3 star level, bathroom up to 2 star level. Supper to be avoided, you eat better and cheaper in town.
