We decided to book this hotel after reading all the previous reviews as surely nowhere could be this good?

WRONG! It's a fantastic experience.

OK the place is a little tired and our shower was very small and yes we experienced the flight of stairs and the nearby train noise, which was nothing compared to the noise of the football supporters parading through the streets after Germany won one of their games, but all this did not matter one iota. The bed and pillows were the best we had during our short trip travelling for a few days and nights up and down the Rhine and Mosel.

John makes everyone feel welcome, bikers or non-bikers, young and old - you are quickly made to feel very comfortable. We caused quite a stir with our car but John's flair for finding quiet and secure corners of Boppard for your transport is just one of his many qualities.

John's recommendations were spot on and after our evening excursions to find food we returned to join 'mine host', his family, an assortment of locals and a mixed nationality of guests all enjoying a night cap (or two) and good friendly conversation together in the small bar.

Brilliant .... we will return to Ohm Patt that's for sure! John and Jeanette, Berkshire.

A very friendly hotel. positioned just up from the river. Free wifi available in rooms.
One word of warning there is a train line behind the hotel and trains do run through the night, but all hotels in Boppard have the problem, just make sure you keep the windows closed at night.
Parking is free at the nearby car park (3 min walk)

Following the advice of other reviewers, we booked online but last minute. Owner John Durcan's wife greeted us saying regrettably that the hotel had no elevator & the only room left was on the second floor. After consulting my wife, awaiting knee surgery, we decided to chance it, and are we glad we did! The room (apart from four flights of stairs) was ideal, with its WC & shower, and had a classic view down on to the small streets below and over the rooftops to the Rhine 300m away. The key approach is to take the couple's advice on everything about Boppard: where to park (the Sud station parkhaus, upper deck, always free, & 3 minutes walk from the hotel) where to eat (anywhere in the town square), which cruise company to use (K-D Line, which operates like a bus company up & down the river, with frequent & very punctual sailings), which of the many local wine houses to buy from (Perll or Lorenz, "just ring the house doorbell; that's how they do business here") We were there the night Germany beat Australia 4-0 in the World Cup and John's pub was packed with fans; obviously a watering hole for many in that locale. Stay there! You won't be disappointed, and you'll leave feeling you now have friends in that small welcoming MittelRhein town.

We found this place based on the reviews on tripadvisor. We thought the price was reasonable and the rooms were perfect. The owner is from England and also speaks German. The hotel is situated in a great place near the town square. Parking was also free at a nearby city garage (5 min walk). Breakfast was included and very good (typical european breakfast). He also had free wifi (fast enough to make Skype calls). Our room was nice and modern but it was the room right next to the bright lighted hotel sign (which turned off eventually) and above the bar (which was somewhat noisy). Other than that, a great place to stay.
