Stayed here on recommendation from family and wasn't disappointed,excellent location for scenic views of the Rhine and surrounding area. Hotel rooms very clean and tidy with a balcolny over looking the river Rhine. Staff very friendly and helpful, lovely breakfast served. Plenty of nearby bars to enjoy an evening meal and sample the local beers. Train station is within walking distance, Bike hire available in the town and lots of shops to look around. We had a lovely break and enjoyed watching the boats and trains from the balcolny, however the trains are noisy during the night, they run 24/7.

We spent a night a night at the Gunther in October. The location could not be better; right on the Rhine, and next to the rather overpriced Bellevue Best Western.

It was perfect for us, in that it is less than 10 minutes on foot from the train station, and their guest house where we lodged was very quiet. The guest house room in which we stayed was very spacious -- actually, like a mini suite.

Very helpful owners; they researched bike rentals for us, saving us a great deal of time. Only drawback was lack of wifi.

For a really good restaurant, Try the St. Severus, on the Untermarkt Str; the people at the Gunther recommended it, and we loved it. Outdoor dining in season on the little pedestrian street on which it is located. Marvelous food, and excellent wines. Plus a great value! We were only sorry we couldn't get back for a second meal!

This is the 4th time my wife and I have stayed in this hotel. I have also stayed here on my own on two other occasions when touring on my motorbike. it has been 5 years since our last stay but the hotel was every bit as good as we remembered it. Beautifully situated overlooking the Rhine with a nice balcony to take our ease on, our room was very comfortable and near to the lift which is important as my wife only walks with difficulty.
Breakfasts were very good with a good selection of meats, cheeses,spreads etc. The boiled eggs were just right every morning, I don't know how they get the same every time but they do.
Parking was a little more difficult this time than before but this true everywhere as there more cars. We still managed to park near the hotel and the 24hour rate of 2.5 euros I think is good value. The town of Boppard is very nice with some good places to eat.
This is one of our favourite places and we hope it will not be another 5 years before we get there again.

My wife and I stayed 5 nights here at the beginning of the month. The staff is very friendly and speak excellent english (owner is from Ohio). We had a nice room overlooking the Rhine, very clean. The views were excellent of the river, and the KD boat is just steps away...Breakfast was plentiful, meats, cheeses, cereal, soft boiled eggs, breads, yogurt, etc...

Only 2 minor issues...1. unless I misread read their website, they claim to have AC in the rooms...this is not the case. Not a big deal most of the year, but on an 85 degree days you need something. Even a ceiling would have been nice. It was warm a couple of nights sleeping. 2. Sheets weren't changed and we stayed 5 nights.

All in all a good, but not great, hotel to make as your hub for your Rhine vacations! Would stay there again.
