“Large comfortable hotel provides good service, requires a makeover sometime soon.”
Situated a couple of kilometres from the airport, there is not much nearby to entertain.
This is a large business hotel, with dated (yet not worn-out) furnishings and a conservative feel. There is free Wi-fi in the lobby, not in the rooms. I think they sell more coffee and beer this way!
My room was too hot upon arrival but this was soon rectified as the radiators are adjustable and you can open the windows. The room had plenty of space, as did the bathroom. The bed was quite soft with little support for the back.
The sauna, with steam room and solarium is excellent, well worth a visit. It's adjacent gym is small, but you'll work up a sweat on one of the four machines. This part of the hotel is very well presented indeed.
Dinner here is always pretty good, the chefs put a bit of love and care into the meals, I think.
The lobby bartender serves proper cocktails, pours a proper beer, serves drinkable wines and real single malt whiskies. A very solid bar service.
Breakfast was comprehensive, with hot tomato, sausages, bacon, boiled and scrambled eggs, croissants, breads, fruit salad, bircher musli with a variety of yoghurts and mixed berry compote. The usual German items were here, the musli, ham, roast beef, a large tea selection, mineral water to mix with your apple juice or "vitaminsaft". Well worth getting up early for.
