Just 20-30mins from the centre of Bonn by taxi and a little longer by tram (the tram stop is 3 minutes walk away), this hotel is pleasantly located overlooking the Rhine. The hotel is very popular for corporate clientele, either just staying in the hotel or making use of the conference facilities there. The hotel's decor is a little dated but tidy and well run. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. Colleagues and I were quickly checked in and our rooms were comfortable and clean and spacious. The bar staff were solicitous when we met in the evenings and the breakfasts in the dining room were excellent: sparkling wine at the juice bar, extensive buffet with lots of choice: fresh fruit, smoked salmon, cold meats, breads and pastries, cereals, range of yoghurts, sausages, eggs, etc, as well as good coffee and a selection of teas.
Koenigswinter itself is a picturesque town and in some ways seems trapped in the 1950's. Shops range from an extensive chinese tea shop and chic decor and clothes boutique through to utiliarian shops selling sensible waterproofs. Koenigswinter also boasts the local aquarium which appeared firmly shut when we were in town.
