We booked the Hotel Hof Tutsberg to attend a family 25th wedding anerversary which was being held in Schneverdingen 10 mimutes away by car, from the details and pictures on the hotels web site it looked to be in a forest location which we thought would be fantastic.
When we arrived we were not disapointed, the hotel was very tradional set in the middle of the forest and we were greeted with an fantastic auntum glow from the trees and fallen leaves which surround the hotel. We were checked in by a very friendly member of staff who spoke very good English which was great as we do not speak a great deal of German.
Our room was no. 19 and was very charming, it was spotlessly clean had twin beds a small TV and a great view of the front gardens, in the distance we could make out a small paddock with a couple of horses grazing away..There was a seperate bathroom with a very good shower and in the bedroom there was a lovely traditional wooden floor. It was nice to see there was a couple of large radiators which warmed the room up very quickly, I think it gets quite cold in the middle of winter so these would be essential. I have posted some photos of the room and hotel to give you an idea of how lovely it is there.
During the afternoon we asked reception for a sandwich and coffee & cake which was quickly brought up to our room and was delicious. In fact all the food was of a high standard and very well presented, at breakfast you got this fantastic view of the forest from your table. The hotels restaurant seemed to well used by the locals for lunch and dinner and there was always a board outside reception with some of the daily specials on.
Our room was in the main hotel on the 1st floor however we were told that there were more rooms in a couple of what looked like newer buildings one had a lecture room on the ground floor with rooms (some being suites we think) on the two floors above.
Although we did not have time to explore the area surrounding the hotel there looked to be some great walks into the forest which we will explore when we return in the very near future.......
PS.
One note worth bearing in mind is that we wanted to book direct with the hotel rather than using Expedia etc so that the hotel would get the full booking fee and you only need to pay when you check out of the hotel. You can do this easily if you click on the ‘tranlate this page’ when googling for the hotels web site you will get an English translation of the hotels German site. Once you have submitted the details of your stay you get an email back to confrm your booking. The email is in German but can easily be translated via the net on Babel Fish etc.
