Have just returned from 4 nights at the Hotel Am Schloss, whilst visiting my brother in Tubingen. The hotel is right next to the Castle entrance, high up, commanding great views over the town. Myself and my Father both had a single room within the main building which were comfortable, clean and spacious enough for one person. I was at the front of the hotel and some noise could be heard from the street outside (and the bar across the road) but it didn't particularly bother me and certainly did not seem to go on too late.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was served between 7 and 10 - so suitable for early birds or late risers. There was a good selection of breads, cheeses, cereals, meats, juices, etc etc - including some hot selections. All very tasty. We ate in the hotel restaurant one evening - sitting out on the terrace area with lovely views. The meal was not cheap, but was very enjoyable, with some interesting dishes on the menu - even for vegetarians.
The hotel is handily situated for the main square - where regular markets are held and cafe bars spill out onto the streets. Tubingen itself was lovely and all the restaurants and cafes we tried were very friendly. Most places had vegetarian options on the menu - and the falafel place (good for lunch) is all vegetarian.

A little late in writing this review. We stayed here in June as part of our 3 week trip through Germany. We loved Tubingen - what a great town. This hotel has received great reviews on TA so we booked it. Pros - I did like the location - right around the corner from the main town square. Nice patio for dining, and the rooms were quite large for european standards. Cons - the noise at night from partiers that were up all night (even though we had a room on the back side) and i felt like some of the hotel charges were excessive for a small town hotel. We were charged for parking - 7 euros per night, which i thought was fine. But then they charged us for breakfast - this was the first hotel in germany (other than 4 * hotels) that added this on top of the room charge. We also asked if we could do a load of laundry, and without checking the charges in advance we gave them a few items to wash. That was a shocker - again charged like we were in a 4* hotel. Overall i thought this hotel was just ok, and if I return to Tubingen I will look for another hotel.

Wow - if driving you definitely need GPS or you will have great difficultly locating the hotel. The view from of the castle gate from our bedroom was delightful, as was being so close to the old town with it's fantastic main square where we sat and had a beer and glass of wine.
We eat in the restaurant on the garden balcony which was lovely although cool -we were having bad weather on this trip. Staff were friendly and helpful. be warned - there are alot of stairs to cimb if you are staying in Fuschia Room!

Very conveniently located, a brisk quarter-hour's walk from the main railway station and in the Old Town but a bit at the periphery, near the top of the castle mount. I had a quiet, large room, tucked away high at the back of the annexe; the next-door pub kept late and noisy hours, but I heard nothing as soon as I had closed the windows. Lots of hot water and a powerful shower; a comfortable, warm bed; friendly, helpful staff; excellent dinner at the hotel's own restaurant; hot breakfasts with an excellent choice of items, wonderful coffee... the only flaw: Not my room itself, but its en-suite bathroom, could have used a lick of paint.
