My husband made the reservation by calling and asking for a room that was suitable for him, me and our 20yr. old son. They said they had a family room for 4 that would do nicely. We arrived on a sunny day in Oct and asked if we had a balcony and the clerk said yes. Very exciting as we are right on Lake Konstanz and the sun would be setting in a couple hours. We got to our room (room 22), and were, to say the least, disappointed. The room would have been good for 2 people, but not 3 and never 4 unless the kids were infants. They had added a cot and because of that, we had no place to open our luggage, at least if we wanted to open the door. But, I thought , we can handle this. My husband did go down and talk with the clerk about the arrangements to see if we could change rooms, but the clerk at this time decided not to talk much English and therefore, we stayed in this room. To the hotels credit, even tho, it was a little tired looking, the room seemed very clean.
Next, I was excited to check out the balcony, open some wine and relax from the drive and watch the sunset. The balcony was a charming Ok size balcony with a small table and 2 chairs, but it didn't face where the sun was setting. I don't think Seehof has any balconies facing the sun setting.
So, being a warm October day, we went down to the pier and boardwalk connected to the Seehof, found a bench, brought our wine and watched the sun set. It was spectacular. And it worked.
Shower in room was pretty small, but good strong stream, white fluffy towels, nice crisp white sheets and duvet on the bed, my son's duvet wasn't as thick or crisp, but he said he was warm enough.
The breakfast room was neat and tidy, very friendly woman in charge bringing whatever kind of coffee you wanted. The selection of breakfasts foods was large. The normal German assortment of foods plus a lot of fresh fruits and different breads.
The location of the Seehof Hotel is wonderful. It is right on the Lake, short walk to the ferry, and close to everything, really, unless you don't like walking up a hill to some of the restaurants. I found the entire town charming, and the windy roads and steps, with the scenic views entirely perfect. What a quaint little village to visit.
All in all, we were disappointed with the size of the room. Our bill for 2 nights was E257, and I don't think that room was worth it.
