We started late on our way from Koln to Titisee and were desperate to find room and restaurant for the night. It seemed everything was booked south of Heidelberg. Offenburg was our last chance--we thought we might have to sleep in the car. Thankfully the conciege at the first (booked) hotel we saw sent us here. We were greeted at the steps by a friendly cat and saw it as a good omen. It turned out to be the cheapest hotel we stayed at during our two week trip and it was one of the best. The concierge was accomodating and friendly and recommended a place that would serve us dinner at such a late hour. Our room was clean and modern--we wished our tiny bathroom at home was as ingeniously designed. Breakfast was--like all German hotel breakfasts--abundant with fresh brotchen and great coffee. The hotel is lovingly cared for. Our room was spotless when we returned from breakfast. I'm not sure what there is to do in Offenburg but it was a great oasis in the autobahn desert.
