This is hotel is very much aimed at the tour group and conference market and as such functions accordingly. No frills , but comfortable and clean with good quality 'mass' dining options - one evening huge langoustines were on the buffet table as a starter option. The traditional German breakfast options of meats and cheeses were a cut above the cooked variety.

Like most people staying here, we were part of a group with the main attraction being the means of getting out of this pleasant town - the wonderful Harz Railway. Everything worked well and the only downside was that the only bar was a smoking area. Its amazing how attitudes have changed over the years and it meant that the only real option was to take your drinks into the lobby.

The location is brilliant, less than five minutes walk to the stations and to the heart of the old town.

We needed extra pillows and these were delivered within minutes of us asking for them.

You probably wouldn't choose this hotel if you were travelling as a couple as there appear to be better options in town but for those on group tours, it does the job and we had no complaints.

This a bit large and impersonal, with wide corridors and very similar rooms, but all well fitted out and very clean and efficient. We had a room facing Albert-Bartels Strasse, which was noisy at night, as traffic roared along it and the sound was amplified by the tunnel of buildings. Rooms facing Pfarrstrasse were quieter. No air conditioning, and no tea/coffee facilities in rooms.
Very handily situated about 5 min from the Rathaus and old town; and the same from the DB and narrow-gauge railway station, from the engine sheds adjacent to which the smell of coal and steam was apparent.
Food in the hotel mostly a serve yourself buffet at Eur-19 and very good in choice and quality, especially regional specialities such as venison. Breakfast excellent too, on the same principle. The restaurant is one of the largest hotel restaurants we've ever seen, with diners and waiters milling about everywhere. There's also a small and more intimate grill-type restaurant.
Room doors are operated by perforated leather key fobs - very difficult to get used to at first.
Staff very good but some, even on Reception, do not speak much English.
Altogether a very good place to stay in a very well preserved town of wooden houses.

Good, clean hotel. Had the buffet for supper and breakfast and it was all good. Wide variety of items, including regional items.

hotel is close to downtown with no noise from the area.

The Ramada (now called the Treff Hotel) was a perfect example of a hotel that seemed to cater to large tour groups - every morning the coaches were lined up to take people on their trips around the Harz Mountains area.

The rooms were clean and bright (if not a little bland) had the usual TV, desk area and a reasonable sized bathroom. There was no minibar/fridge. The hotel did however offer free internet access in the hotel lobby.

Breakfast, if not included in the room rate, was priced at 13 Euro per person - to be honest we took the short walk into the town centre of Wernigerode to one of the cafes near to the Rathaus that served a 'buffet break fast' for about 6 Euro.

There was nothing wrong with the hotel, it just lacked the personal touch. It is well located being about a five minute walk to the railway station (for the Harz Mountain Steam Railway etc) and about the same to the attractive town centre of Wernigerode.
