On the 16th October I received confirmation of my reservation - which was referred to as a 'binding booking' - on the 14th December, the day before I was due to arrive, I received a call saying the hotel was closed and the person speaking (he did not introduce himself so I have no idea of his name or position) had booked me into the hotel next door. He left me with the feeling that I should be grateful that he had gone to such trouble as to make an alternative booking for me - he spoke over me when I tried to ask questions and was extremely officious and patronising - whatever happened to respect for customers? Especially customers you have just let down, vey badly indeed!
No attempt was made to ensure that the room size would be similar; I'd booked, and was paying for, a larger than average room. I'd even asked to be transferred to a suite if one became available and was more than willing to pay the difference The room I was allocated in the hotel next door - at the same price - was one of the smallest I'd stayed in for many years, small and old-fashioned - but the same price as the original hotel.
No contact was made during my stay to make sure I was satisfied - no apology made - in fact, as far as customer service is concerned, The Nicolay Zur Post does not have a clue.
I have no idea of the quality of their product but, as hospitality is a SERVICE industry and I was shown some of the worst service in decades of travelling, I have no hesitation in saying that this is an establishment that neither respects nor value its clients and I wouldn't recommend it on that basis alone.
