We stayed two nights here in a superior double room on the 2nd floor. We got in around 9pm and were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming host. The hotel is cozy and clean, with beautiful views of the lake from both the restaurant and our private balcony. The breakfast buffet had a decent selection, and the morning restaurant staff was very attentive. We had dinner there one night, and it was delicious. If you stay here, plan to eat in the restaurant at least one night. The hotel is not cheap (160 euro/night), but it is well worth it! Highly recommend.

We arrived in the early evening to be informed by a very apologetic host that the restaurant was closed due to it being the chef's day-off. (As was explained the next morning, recruiting staff in this part of Germany is very difficult because everyone goes to Switzerland for the higher wages.) The hotel itself is a bit old-fashioned and you have to drive down a less than attractive road to get to it but once there, the location by the side of the lake is special even though the road on the other side is busy. We were kindly upgraded and the room we were allocated was of a good size, as was the bathroom. The room was clean and comfortable but not really to our taste.
In conclusion, the hotel is perfectly adequate and is run by an excellent host who deserves to succeed.

A sunny terrace from where took in our first glimpses of the tranquil Schluchsee whilst enjoying delicious Kaffee and Kuchen were our introduction to the delightful Seehotel Hubertus on lake Schluchsee in mid September. The hotel, which had an expensive refurbishment in 2007, is now run by the friendly and extremely competent Fam. Dykast, who made us very welcome during our two night stay. The breakfast buffet offers a wide selection to suit all tastes and we also took our evening meal there on both nights. We had a spacious ground floor room in the Annex, which had lake views. We paid Euro 150 incl. breakfast for the room, so this is not a budget hotel. However the standard of the accommodation combined with the ambience and all round service made us feel that we had value for money.

This hotel is a bit outside of town, but worth the short and beautiful walk into Schluchsee. The hosts are gracious and helpful. The restaurant is excellent for both breakfast and dinner, with fantastic views. We stayed in the two-level suite, which is wonderful for a longer stay.
