“There are better choices”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

If you read the previous reviews you will note that the property is in a residential area. That should have been a clue to us but we didn't pick up on that! We stayed here because of a early morning flight to the states. It was so warm, no fan in the room, and we couldn't have the windows open because of the "residential area", kids, cars, dogs barking,,,,,,But the main reason I gave a low score and would never stay there again or recommend the property is the cigarette smoke,I assume it's the the owners who smoke, the TV room is actually the smoking room for the family and employees, it's gross!! And the shower walls had mold.
There is no sound proofing, the guests coming in slamming doors, talking in the halls...it all echoes...You are better off at the NH Hotel a mile closer to the airport with a free shuttle, bar and restaurant.

“Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

Had the pleasure of finding this on Travelocity and the hotel was exactly if not better than advertised, The best value for an airport hotel I have come across in a long time. Only 5 minutes from Frankfurt airport, the staff was extremely friendly and accomodating, Breakfast was a good value and dinner was even better. Definately telling all of my travelling companions to stay here when they pass thru Frankfurt.

“Great place to stay!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2008

I booked this hotel last minute as a place to stay before catching a 6am flight. At check in we were greeted with a warm welcome by one of the owners. She arranged for us to have a wake up call as well as a taxi waiting for us a 4AM! She recommended a WONDERFUL asian/german restaurant a few minutes walk from the hotel! Which happened to be extraordinary food! I hightly recommend it, i dont know the name of it however. The room was fairly small as was the bathroom, but adequate for a one night stay. There were cokes and water in the room for a superb price of 1,80. ( You never find minibar items for that cheap). The room was not airconditioned, however, which made the heat all that much unbearable, my husband slept like a babe, while i laid awake the whole time drenched in sweat. The shower was TINY and leaked and the water spout gave a harsh pressure, againy husband loved it while i did not. All in all it was a good experience.

“older budget hotel 2 miles from airport”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2008

Having stayed in most hotels around Frankfurt airport, we decided to give the Tanne Hotel a try. Owned and operated by two friendly sisters, the 36-roomTanne Hotel, located in a quiet residential street proved to be very near the airport, easy to find, with free parking on-site.

Check-in by one of the very well English speaking owners was short and pleasant. Our no-smoking room #107 was up one floor with no elevator, which meant lugging the suitcases up the stairs, though help was offered. Turning the corner toward our room, we could not help but notice the totally soiled hall way carpet looking as if a regiment of chimney sweeps stays here every night. The carpet in our room was not as badly soiled, but equally past replacement time.

The room and the bathroom were on the smallish side, and furnishings, appointments, and ancient TV gave away the fact that this hotel has been around for some time, even though the owners are definitely trying to udate. as is evidenced with wireles LAN and ISDN telephone Internet connections. Additionally, a computer terminal was available for guest use in the lobby.Beds were comfortable and the tiled, small bathroom with stall shower, hair dryer were very clean. A nice touch was a plate of fresh fruit and Haribo gummi bear packets in the room. No minibar/fridge was in the room, but ice cubes were available in the restaurant. Cold drinks could be taken in the TV lounge on an honor system basis. Despite no A/C and open windows, airport noise was not an issue and we had a very good night sleep here.

A small, cozy restaurant served reasonably priced, good meals to be selected from a menu in English. Breakfast was buffet style in the same place. All in all, for US$185 the Tanne offers an alternative with a personal touch to the chain marquis hotels in the same price range, but it definitely needs to replace unsightly carpeting.

“Quiet and clean”

This small, simple, 3*, family-run hotel is located on a quiet residential street only a five minute drive to Frankfurt airport! The owner was very welcoming and helpful, the rooms were super clean and my favorite part of all: crisp, ironed, white linens on the beds. The bathroom's look was a little dated (brown/beige), but it was so clean, we couldn't really complain. (We had a shower, no bath.) My kids were delighted to see little "gummy bear" packets on our pillows, and were happy to find out about the "lounge" on the first floor: this room has a larger screen tv -small tvs are also located in each guest room-, coffee/tea making facilities, candy, board games and a computer with high speed internet access cheap (2 Euros per hour) in case you forgot your laptop. (There is wireless access in all rooms as well.) We would definitely go back there before a flight out of Frankfurt airport. Wouldn't recommend for a longer stay since there is not much to do, no swimming pool. There are a couple restaurants in the village center, a 10minute walk away. Do note that there is no elevator... So you must carry all your luggage up to your room yourself. There is a restaurant for breakfast and dinner. We paid 113 Euros for a night, 2 adults and 2 children. -1 double bed, one single bed and one comfortable, folding cot with a decent mattress. Breakfast is extra.
