The Hotel Schiffmeister overlooks the boat stage and looks straight down the lake. From 9:00 to about 18:00 it is quite busy outside but, then, the day trippers go home and peace reigns.
The hotel does not have it's own, in house, restaurant but it does own the restaurant next door with good food and lakeside seating when the weather is good.
For the Hotel itself it is more about character than swish modern rooms, but everything is there that you need. The En-suite shower rooms are small but adequate. There is a lift and the landings are massive.
The floors are not very even and window frames / balconies are quite old but the rooms are a good size and the beds are clean and comfortable. Evening & morning views are breathtaking.
Breakfast is a typical German cold buffet but of a good standard.
There is good parking but, weirdly, this is behind the Hotel Konigssee across the road.
In terms of convenience this could not be better. you just have 20m to get the first (electric) boat down the lake in the morning to spend a day exploring St. Bartholomew & Salet/Obersee.
The hotel is owner run with the aid of some staff. They are friendly if, sometimes, a little distant.
If you are looking for a swish modern 4 star hotel with loads of in house facilities then this is not for you. If, however, you are looking for a comfortable character hotel in a stunning location then you cannot do better.
The main disadvantage is that the reception has limited attendance in the evening (none after 9:00pm) so booking in the evening and late initial arrival can be problematical.
We have stayed in this hotel many times (as well as others in the area) and it is our favourite place to stay.
I have many colleagues who are also repeat visitors.
