“Charming hotel in fantastic location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011 via mobile

We stayed here courtesy of Audi the night before we picked up our new car. The rooms are clean, decently sized, and we had a great view of the square. Breakfast is amazing: Germany spread with extras for the folks that don't want sliced meats in the morning. The best part of this hotel is the location. You can walk to all of Ingolstadt's hotspots: Mo's beer garden, the old castle, and the mall. Something for everyone!

“The hottest room I have ever stayed in”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We stayed one night in a tiny room at the Hotel Rappensberger. We chose this hotel due to the location in the old town.

To start with the positive things:
a) the location - you can walk to all the bars and restaurants in the old town and there are a lot of them. There are also a lot of beautiful buildings and churches you can admire
b) the hotel as its own garage for parking with direct access to the hotel. It was quite full when we were there - but we did find a space for our big car.
c) check-in went quickly and smoothly and the people at the front desk were helpful and friendly and spoke English very well.
d) there was a dish of fresh fruit in the room and a complimentary bottle of water
e) the hotel bar was good and the service was excellent - unfortunately it closed at 11pm - we would have liked to stayed longer

Unfortunately there were some things that were not so good and these were important things for us - hence the rating.
a) The hotel has no airconditioning and our room was EXTREMELY hot - I would guess the temperature was somewhere between 30/86 and 35/95. There was a tiny little noisy fan in the room - but it hardly helped. We tried opening the shutters and windows at night - but there was absolutely no breeze (the room looked in to a closed courtyard). We slept with the windows open - but were awakened when they started work in the courtyard around 5am. Every sound made an echo.

And some things that were not so important
a) The room was tiny - but well equipped
b) The TV was an ancient model (giving off a lot of heat !!!) and it was impossible for both of us to lay in bed and watch it
c) The temperature control on the shower did not work - so one moment it was freezing cold and the next scorching hot
d) There was a minibar with cold water - which was absolutely necessary with such a hot room.

All-in-all:
We were just too hot to want to eat breakfast, we walked past the buffet and it looked OK. We went straight to the Audi-museum and there we had a fantastic breakfast on the terrace. Something I would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Avoid room 202

“good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

Hotel Rappensberger is a nice centrally located hotel in Ingolstadt with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is within a 2 min walk of the shops, bars and restaurants. Single rooms are small and upgrading to a business room makes not much difference and the small pillow makes sleeping uncomfortable so if this is a problem take your own.

I have stayed at this hotel many times as it still is my preferred hotel in Ingolstadt with reasonable prices and a very nice choice of breakfast., In summer you can take breakfast outside in the courtyard which is a nice start to the day. However, this hotel has no airconditioning and the bedrooms can get very hot as the shutters also keep any breeze out. worth asking for a fan when booking your room as it will make some difference. Also if you stay from Thursday onwards in summer ask for a room facing the courtyard as the ones facing the backstreet are very noisy due to the bars in that street where the party can continue till 3 am !

The busstop to Munich airport is a 5 mins walk away , the bus takes an hour to get you to the airport and is very cheap (19 euros in comparision a taxi will cost you 110 euros!)

Parking is limited especially during the week as the hotel is almost always full and difficult if you have a large (rental) car.

Room Tip: avoid rooms facing the backstreet in summer

We spent one night at this hotel courtesy of Audi, prior to picking up our new car. The hotel has a great location in the old town, and within walking distance to restaurants and the Danube River (called Donau in Germany). Most people in the hotel, and in the city, were business travelers.

“Great location, but impossible to sleep with the noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2010

Stayed two nights in a room facing the courtyard. This is a business hotel and is centrally located. However, there is not a quiet room in the hotel. This according to the front desk. It was explained to me that it is a "Intercity Hotel" that is what you get. The courtyard rooms could be quiet, however, they use that as the Terrace/Garden for the Bar area, therefore you will sleep when the Bar patrons decide they want to go to sleep, that was 2am for us on both nights. No A/C as with most hotels in Europe, so you need to keep the windows open as to not have the room get too hot. Breakfast was good, with good coffee, however it gets quite hectic in the small breakfast room. Front desk service was average to below par.
