Located outside of main city center in Ingoldstadt. You definitely need a car to go there, no walking distance to anything, no public transport but in exchange very quiet, free parking and a fairly good and bavarian style restaurant. The hotel does not look like a typical hotel bunker, is only two stories high, but the rooms are typical boring Mercure style, for the price ok. the breakfast was not included but priced reasonable (14 Euro) for a hotel. there are no real breakfast alternatives around. the staff was very friendly and I was offered to have a beer in the restaurant although they were about to close. It was quite difficult to find a nice hotel in Ingoldstadt, this one is part of Accor group. if you are looking for hip hotels, luxurious rooms or modern stylish hotels you better travel to Munich.

“A haven of peace and quiet”
The Mercure is situated some 6 km South of Ingolstadt in the village of Spitalhof, a quiet and well-kept semi-rural community. There is plenty of parking space on the premises. The receptionist was friendly and efficient and she booked a table for us at the restaurant in the adjoining original inn. The room was spacious enough for a short stay, had excellent firm beds and a well-equipped modern bathroom. At night everything was amazingly quiet.
We had dinner in the Widmann restaurant, which is much nicer than in the photos on the hotel website; the fare was top quality, with a mix of traditional dishes and intelligent modern interpretations, and a vast selection of local and imported wines by the glass, plus an impressive list of fruit brandies. The service was outstanding.
Early in the morning on Sunday, we stepped into the transformed restaurant, where a large breakfast buffet had appeared. Both the quality and variety were impressive and so once more was the service.
I will be happy to return to Ingolstadt and its rural Mercure anytime.
