We booked Mercure Ingolstadt as there was no affordable accommodation available in Munich due to Ocktoberfest. I was pleasantly surprised with Ingolstadt (on the Danube) and could have stayed longer than our 2 nights. Spend some time in the old town. The Mercure is located in 'suburban" Ingolstadt approx. 5 km from the town centre. It is only about 10 mins. off the A9 Autobahn with an easy drive of around 30 mins. to nearby locations incl. Munich city, Dachau Memorial site (a must visit) and Munich airport. Just on the northern outskirts of Ingolstadt is Audi Forum which I highly recommend. After a visit there you will want to buy an Audi.
I could not fault the hotel at all. Staff were warm, friendly and helpful and the restaurant excellent for dinner and the extensive buffet breakfast. The rooms were large and very comfortable with all amenities.
I would recommend this hotel to any traveller.

Very clean. Perfect location for our purposes. The door to the room was hard to open. We appreciated the free parking but wished for more spaces. The breakfast buffet was very good also and the atmosphere was pleasant.

I travel routinely to this part of Germany on business. After trying several area hotels, the Mercure Ingolstadt ( Widmann) has emerged as the overwhelmingly best-in-class choice. It is now my personal home-away-from-home.

Why? For starters, the staff is highly attentive and professional. They demonstrate a level of individual care and attention which is rare in any industry. Next, the rooms are always spotlessly clean. The Mercure is located on the beautiful Bavarian countryside just outside Ingolstadt and the cleanliness combined with that abundant , fresh Bavarian country air is nice departure from the typical stuffy city hotel. Finally, the food in the hotel restaurant draws local discerning, gourmets by the droves. It is simply awesome.
This is a real gem of a hotel and I promise that you will be extremely delighted.
