“great location, great staff”

we've had the most friendly check in at a hotel ever! this young lady was so motivated and welcoming, it was a delight. hotel is modern with a bar (closed on the sunday and monday in october we've been there) and has a good restaurant facing the river. a sauna with jacuzzi and a tiny fitness area opens at 5pm. its location however is unfavourable as you have to walk thru lobby and bar first. our rooms faced the river with views of an old castle, vineyards, boats and trains on the other side of ther river, trains can be kind of noisy which may disturb light sleepers. ample free parking at the hotel and within walking distance to train station, ferry boats, supermarkets, shops and restaurants. take the ferry to ruedesheim (eur.4v.v.p/p), visit the drosselgasse there and see international and native tourists in a somewhat kitschy surrounding. back in bingen one must try icecream at the Rialto Eiscafe. simply the best and 5min walk from the hotel. overall I guess the nh hotel bingen is the best choice for a couple of nights in this tourist spot.

Room Tip: definitely ask for a room with river view. the ones facing town are literally on a busy railway trac...

“Average hotel close to train station but good restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

I agree with the another review that this is definitely not a four star hotel. The room style is old and outdated. There was a machine to press your pants that looked something from the 70's. Going through the tunnel from the train station is a little scary but it is quite close to the station. Overall this hotel is average but we loved the food at the hotel restaurant. We would give a rating of 5 for the food especially after a long day of travel.

“Fabulous position”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

This modern hotel is situated on the banks of the Rhine almost opposite Rudeshiem. The rooms are mainly facing the river where one can witness its constant activity. True it is not easy to find the road leading to the hotel but once there there is plenty of parking space and walking access to the town of Bingen very simple and convenient.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms spotless. It is very much a business hotel with several conference rooms and free wifi in the lobby area. Food in the restaurant was very acceptable and the cost well in line with similar restaurants in the town. Breakfast at €15 per person was perhaps a little expensive.
The only downside was the lack of air-conditioning in the bedrooms and the need to keep a window open for fresh air at night. Although impressive, the sheer volume of goods trains travelling along the opposite bank of the Rhine at about 5 minute intervals during the night necessitated the need for ear plugs which had thoughtfully been provided by the hotel in the bathroom. Maybe this would not be a problem in the colder season.
The town of Bingen was well worth a visit and a complete contrast to the touristic Rudeshiem. The views of the vineyards on the hills above Rudeshiem were excellent from NH Bingen and even better if you climbed up to the castle and saw the whole Rhine valley set out before you.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper like me, see if there are rooms on the Bingen town side of the hotel - th...

“AVERAGE - DEFINITELY NOT FOUR STAR”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

Have just returned from a holiday in Germany which included a two night stay at the NH Hotel in Bingen. On arrival access to the hotel is via the one way traffic system which at first can be confusing. There is plenty of free parking in front of the hotel. The hotel is situated right on the banks of the Rhine and rooms to the back of the hotel offer a view of the Rhine. On arrival the young man on reception was efficient and pleasant and quickly found our reservation.
The room we were allocated was to the back of the hotel and overlooked the Rhine. It was at best average and very basic. It was necessary to keep your suitcase on the floor as there was no shelf or rack on which to place it. Although it as a double room only one chair was provided and there was no mirror at the desk to help with hair and make-up. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean, a good size and with a good shower.
Breakfast in the morning was very good and offered an extensive buffet which included bacon, various types of eggs, cold meats, fruit, yoghurt etc. It was however expensive at 15 euros.
On departure I checked my bill and found I had been charged for an extra breakfast. When I pointed it out, the young lady on reception was most apologetic and it was quickly sorted.
In conclusion the location of the hotel is its best selling point, It definitely does not warrant 4 stars and would be ok for one or two nights but not for an extended holiday.

Room Tip: For a view of the Rhine a room at the back is best.

“excellent quite location on the Rhine River Bank; Friendly hotel staff and nice neighborhood Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

This hotel is at the excellent location of Rhine River. We took a pleasant walk after dinner along the river and the park. It was amazingly quite and beautiful! Hotel staff are all friendly and helpful. The parking lot is close, safe, free, and spacious.

Room Tip: try to get the higher floor rooms. The lower floor ones have windows shade that may block 40% of th...
