I've stayed here several times and while it's clean, it is not somewhere I would stay out of choice, however I am assured by others it is the best in the local area.

On my last trip it was obscenely hot (even the locals were struggling) none of our rooms had air con, neither did any of the reception areas or restaurants and they didn't have enough fans for all of us.

The rooms and bathrooms are very small and the decor is dated. The beds are comfortable and the food is very good (expensive) but they don't seem to chill their drinks so all the water was severed at the room temperature which was hot!

They charged for internet and this was expensive as was room service (10 Euros for 1.5litres of water).

It does have a great location and is within easy walking distance of the town centre which is beautiful.

As a preliminary, this trip was neither business nor leisure. I do wish the travel trade would drop this distinction.

Looking for a stop-over on a drive back from Denmark, I followed the 'hotel route' in Celle, and saw this one near the centre with (free) parking spaces in front.

The hotel was no doubt relatively expensive for Celle but, with 7% VAT, German hotels usually offer value, and this one did. My single room was reasonably-sized, but I would not have chosen it for more than one night, since it was rather stuffy (even though it was not hot outside) and the ersatz-English style does not appeal to me. But the TV had BBC World and TV 5, and there was a safe. The bedlight was only 25W with a thick shade, presumably to make the room 'cosy', but was useless for reading by. On the other hand, the bathroom was very well-lit and modern. The corridors leading to my room were also well-lit. Very odd.

The hotel has a big lounge, also rather gloomy and not much easier to read in. I had expected to eat in town but, as it was wet, I ate in the Italian restaurant, which had tasty food and attentive staff. The breakfast in the main restaurant was stylish and a real pleasure, with rolls, croissants, etc and coffee brought to the table, and a good buffet in addition.

In the (unlikely) event of returning to Celle, I would probably take a 'superior' room. I had been offered one at check-in but it seemed an unnecessary addition.

We had just one night at Fürstenhof hotel, but that was a very nice experience. We did not book just a plain room, we payd a few euro extra and we got a very nice "apartment". We loved it. The staff was very kind. One problem was at the breacfast, we orderer omelet, but we didn't get it before we were almost done eating. A lot of other people came later than us and got their orders first.

Highly over-rated at 5-stars and over-priced. Double room was barely big enough for the bed. No air-con so room was very warm so great difficulty sleeping. Room also full of mosquitos due to trees outside and need to keep window open - lots of bites by morning. Staff uniterested, so checked out after 1 night and went to another hotel (see Hotel Blumlage review).
