Quedlinburg is probably the world's largest and most unspoiled town of timber-framed houses from eight centuries. The Brühl is the appropriate hotel to visit this town if you choose the four-star level. The hotel itsself is an ensemble of several historical buildings, some timber-framed and an art-deco mansion.

Location: As mentioned, Quedlinburg is a place that is full of history. The old town remains mostly intact and is not spoiled by tourism yet. Above the city thrones a 1000-year-old women's convent where royal princesses used to be educated. The cathedral has a magnificent treasury. And the surrounding landscape is most beautiful, since Quedlinburg is in the foothills of the Harz mountain range. The hotel building is at the edge of the old town, in easy walking distance to the cathedral and center. Some rooms offer a view of the cathedral.

Rooms: The rooms are simple but spacious and furnished in historical style. The bathrooms are brand new and state-of-the-art with large shower cabins.

Public areas/restaurants: The public areas are stunning beautiful. There is a half-timbered lobby with comfortable easy chairs in front of a burning fireplace. A wonderful place to relax and have a glass of beer or wine. The courtyard is just lovely with lots of plants in terracotta pots. Many fine details, like a fish-pond in a half-cut barrel. The restaurant is cozy and serves good food, prepared in a modern way (we had a creamy ratatouille soup, then a choice of salmon with cucumbers or Tafelspitz, and for dessert, orange mousse with caramel parfait and fruit). Fresh beer and wine list are impeccable.

Service: Service is very nice and amiable.

Other: The hotel organized for our party a nightwatchman tour through town.
