I stayed in the Hotel Amber for 3 nights on a visit to family who were spread between Hilden and the Uniklink Duesseldorf. I chose Hotel Amber because it was located within walking distance of the S-Bahn into Duesseldorf and also with direct access to the pedestrian zone and hence shops.
I arrived late which was no problem since reception is open 24 hours. The room was very basic - comparable to a travel lodge. However, after the initial disappointment, it grew on me. Even though it was a single room, it appeared quite spacious due to an area under the sloping ceiling.
Roughly half the rooms face a main road with a steady amount of traffic starting early in the morning. I asked for a room to the back, which I got. Unfortunately, there was an open air festival in town which meant music until 12.30 on Saturday! After this it was very quiet indeed.
Breakfast was included in the rate and consisted of a buffet breakfast. This had a good choice, particularly of continential breakfast items. Avoid the bacon though, it was so crisp as to be almost inedible.
If this hotel had been presented as a standard class one (rather than 4 star) I would probably have raved about it. As it was, I felt it was good value for money (£160 for 3 nights) but did not feel like 4 stars.

My wife and I spent four nights at this hotel at the end of May for DRUPA.

The hotel is situated at the end of the mall and only a short stroll to the shops and restaurants.It is within easy walk of the station and only a short ride into the centre of Dusseldorf.

The hotel room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and catered for all tastes. The staff were always pleasant and helpful.

I would have no hesitation staying at the Amber Hotel if I visit Dusseldorf again.

This hotel is ok. The rooms are clean and the beds small but comfortable. The room has ethernet internet.

It is a short walk to the train station.

I was given a free drink on check in.

I stayed at the Amber Hotel in Hilden while on business in Dusseldorf. I usually stay at the Rhineterrasse in Benrath, or the Stadt Hotel in Hilden for convenience to our office in south Dusseldorf.

This is a nice business hotel at the edge of the walking mall, near the center of the city. It had nice, clean rooms. There is a bar in the lobby and breakfast (included) was very good. I had to pay 3.50 Euros to park, which was cheap, and 95 Euros for the room (average).

We actually walked down to the Stadt Hotel to eat dinner, but this was not a great experience. They muddled up my order and the food was so-so. The staff at the restaurant were very nice and attentive, however. So may be give it another shot.

You can easily walk around the town from the hotel, so the location is good. I thought it was a little nicer than the room I had at the Stadt hotel, but I had a dull room on the ground floor there, whereas here, I had a bright, third floor room.

The only negative was at check-out. There was only one person checking people out, althought there seemed to be plenty of staff running around the area. As a consequence, it took a long time to get out in the morning.

Other than that, a pleasant stay.
