A delightful old historic hotel in the center of Goslar, conveniently located on the pedestrian-zone marketplace. The front exterior of the building is unique, with statues of medieval knights located in wall niches. And this theme is carried out inside, with similar statues along the walkways.
Our room was large and comfortable. Not luxurious, but tastefully decorated and furnished. The furniture is nineteenth century, but well-maintained. The walls were painted in a salmon color, with a white ceiling, decorated with carved white crown molding. The ceiling light was a medium-sized crystal chandelier hanging from a 12-foot (almost 4 meter) ceiling. There is plenty of storage space for clothing—a large wardrobe, a cabinet and a desk with usable drawers.
The bathroom was large enough, and like many older hotels the shower was a small but adequate fiberglass add-on. There was a separate WC with its own sink, so my wife and I were able to wash up at the same time.
Breakfast is included in the room rate, and the Kaiserworth offering is typical of good German restaurants. Virtually anything a guest could want is available. For example, juice (canned, not fresh), fresh fruit, cereal, eggs (medium-boiled and scrambled), smoked fish, cold cuts, a cheese selection, coffee and tea (and I probably have forgotten some items). The breakfast area is comfortable and reasonably spacious, but is furnished in a modern style that I find plain. That is so unlike the main restaurant, where good food is complemented by the vaulted ceilings and elegant furnishings.
An additional positive about the Kaiserworth is the free wi-fi internet connection. And in our case we were greeted with a bowl of fresh fruit, which was greatly appreciated.
Both my wife and I liked the Kaiserworth and would stay again if we ever get back to Goslar. We almost did not book here after reading some negative reviews on Trip Advisor. I have no reason to doubt the veracity of those negative reviews, but the explanation may be that the hotel has, I believe, three classes of rooms. We opted for the middle rank and were pleased. It well could be that those reviewers who were dissatisfied had selected the lower price category. That does not excuse the obligation of an hotelier to provide all guests with an acceptable experience, but it may explain why some reviews were so negative.
