“Nice hotel in Goslar for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

Room was clean and large. They gave us the room in the corner with all the windows. The view was lovely. Accommodations have not been upgraded since the 1970's - but everything was fine and all was clean. Staff was wonderful. Prices for breakfast were quite high so we walked into the marketplatz to find so many better choices. Dinner was the same - very overpriced at the the hotel, but lots to choose from within a few minutes walk. Would not hesitate to stay again. Most of the hotels in the area are also a return to the 1970's. Location is at the end of the pedestrian center - but a short walk from the opposite end.

“Traditional in Goslar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

We were late from Metzingen, due to traffic outside Stuttgart, and called to book hotel in Goslar. Ended up with Achtermann, found out we would arrive after that kitchen was closed. No problem, they promised to have something for us anyway. Sure enough, we arrived at 11pm, received clean and nice rooms AND dinner served with wine on the terasse. Perfect service from friendly staff that was there all the time for u. also to be mentioned, a solid German breakfast!

“Home from home!”

We've just stayed at the above hotel for the Christmas period and to say it ws fantastic would be an understatement. The staff were very helpful, tending to our every need, in particular Helga. The hotel is ideally situated to venture into the old town and venture back in time, down cosy snow laden 'Victorian Dickensian' streets. Truly festive. Can highly recommend the christmas market on the Marktplatz, Kaisersplatz. Really made our Christmas. A big thank you to all the staff for a wonderful Christmas, our 8 month old daughters first.

“Good hotel at the border of the Old Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2008

The hotel is very close to the railway station, but also on the fringe of the old town and pedestrian zone. Rather large, with a convention center attached. There are some fantastic modern suites in the 500-year-old tower next to the main building. We did not have one of those, but the "comfort" double room was very nice too. The room was spacious, the bathroom was too, and unusually it had large windows to the outside. The towels were a bit old, and the bathtub is not the most modern (of some kind of fake marble), but apart from that, no complains. There is a pool, small fitness room and a sauna area with 5 different saunas of various temperatures, with and without steam. The hotel is labyrinthic, and it was difficult to find the way to the pool area and back, but this is about the only complaint. The bar area is not exactly cosy, it is modern and in the entrance hall.

  • Liked — Convenient location, free parking spaces in front of hotel
  • Disliked — Labyrinthic layout

“Wonderful! Staff is outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2008

This is a wonderful hotel for the family (and for others)! We booked a very reasonable summer family rate directly with the hotel (email), which included breakfast and dinner.

The food was outstanding, both the traditional German fare and other selections offered. We found that they had a table reserved for us in the lovely restaurant each night. Very interesting decor. The children were allowed the choice from the adult selections of the 3 course meal or a children's menu. My daughters are now a great fan of panna cotta. The breakfast buffet was very good as well; served in a sunny warm room overlooking the patio. Hot and cold buffet items were continually refilled by an attentive staff.

The entire staff was very helpful, informative and overall very pleasant with the kids. The pool was warm, and had some wonderful surprises for the children (a tunnel/cave with moving water and fountain).

The location was perfect for sight seeing on-foot around town. Shops and the pedestrian walk were right outside the hotel. Bus stop out front took us directly to the mine museum. With kids, I would recommend the little "train" tram tour in the center of town, which gave us a nice overview or start to our day. We also set them to the task of finding all the "boulders" that were placed at the important sites in town

Room was wonderful. Clean and unique; it included a smaller adjoining room for the children. Beautiful interior and exterior, what fun to stay in a historic building (with modern amenities).

Excellent! Will go back again! This was a wonderful two day stay, at a very interesting hotel. Highly recommend!
