This is certainly a most special and unusual hotel! Because of the many driving restrictions and one-way streets in the medieval centre of Goslar, we first had to park the car and find the hotel on foot. The hotel building is very old and in a traditional German style. In the reception they told us how to drive back on the ringroad around the city and find the right exit. No problem then, and the hotel had its own backyard parking space. For the rest of our stay in this unbelievably wonderful city we could leave the car there and just walk around in the very concentrated city centre.
We had an excellent room with a view directly onto the old church and the town market place. No noise problems though, and very good beds. Bathroom very fine and spotlessly clean. On the top floor, hardly to be believed, there was a fairly large swimming pool, open all night.
Since this was out of season the hotel restaurant was closed, but there were many eateries only minutes away open till late. Breakfast, very good indeed, was served in the restaurant, which was straight out of a story-book picture from a German knight's hall. Extremely romantic and evocative!
Certainly a hotel we will come back to and recommend to anybody with no restrictions. The same goes for Goslar, which seems to be the city in Germany with the greatest number of original buildings from the Middle Ages. It's really a feast for the eye to wander around in the old city centre.
