“Fantastic Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2011

Stayed for a couple of nights at the hotel on a business trip. The location is unbeatable in Friedrichshafen. Next to the Stadt Bahnhoff (city rail station) and across the Lake of Bodensee. The main town centre is 500 meters away.

I was upgraded to a double room on the 3rd level facing the rear courtyard. Very quiet and spacious room - seemed newly renovated specially the retro ceiling. The room has a large wardrobe and bag storage space with a safe. The room is well furnished except for a iron / iron board or tea / coffee maker.

Breakfast was inclusive, but very limited for choice.

Overall satisfied for a tourist / business hotel mainly due to location.

“Don't stay at this hotel if you plan to stay in a single room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2009

My friend and I traveled throughout Germany for 12 days with the primary purpose of visiting her very eldery Aunt in Weimar. I made reservations at the Seehotel for 3 nights. We checked into the hotel on a very hot day and were given the keys to 2 single rooms on the 5th floor. We got into the elevator and no 5th floor. I returned to the desk and was told that we needed to go up to the 4th floor and carry our luggage up a very long staircase to the 5th floor. Since we were away from home for such a long time, our suitcases were heavily packed. The scale at the airport in Frankfurt said 49 pounds. I never expected to have to carry my own luggage up a long flight of stairs at the #2 rated hotel in Friedrichshafen. There was no offer of help from any hotel staff. When we did arrive in our rooms, the air conditioning had been turned off and the temperature was at least 90 degrees. It took 2 days for the room to cool. You would think that the hotel would at least turn the air on to 80 degrees anticpating our arrival. The room was so barren that it reminded me of a jail cell you see in the movies. One threadbare towel and one super thin pillow and nothing to wash one's body with and no toiletries. I had to repeatedly call to the desk for our rooms to be cleaned and to provide more towels and pillows. When I finally complained to a manager, he promised to provide help with our luggage down the stairs. When we checked out, the manager gave me two bright yellow duckies to make up for our inconvenience. Amazing. The cost of the single room was $160 USD per night. I wish that I had known about of the condition of the single rooms so that I could have chosen another hotel or another city nearby. I have planned at least 20 trips both in Europe and the US using solely the advice from my fellow travelers on Tripadvisor and have never had any problems until now. I feel that the traveling public needs to know that if you plan to stay at this hotel in a single room on the 5th floor, that you can expect the worst accomodations that I have stayed in anywhere, ever. And considering the price, this is a truly a sham. Denise L. Dennis, Cooper City, Florida

“A surprising Gem”

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with our 2 kids and a dog. The room was a nice size for European standards and the bathroom and room itself was spotless. The breakfast was also very good, lots of choices. The staff was excellent and spoke English as well as several other languages. The location of the hotel was great. Right next to the train station and bus transportation. It was a short distance from the promenade where you could find many shops and restaurants as well as ferry transportation. Take the catamaran to Konstanz, it was great. The towns of Lindau and Bregenz were also worth a trip. All in all this was a great hotel for a nice long weekend.

“Very Nice!”

I had to take a late train into Friedrichshafen and I wanted to be sure that I had a room, so I booked one at the Seehotel because it was near the train station. I got in at one AM and the receptionist was helpful and friendly. The rooms were very nice and clean, and very new. I wasn't even going to go to the free breakfast in the morning, because I've been to many hotels with unimpressive breakfasts, but I did go and was impressed by the quality and selection of foods. It was a restraunt style buffet, and the food was very good. I had no problems at all at this hotel, and after a very long trip it was nice to be able to stay in such a nice and quiet place.

  • Liked — I liked that I got off my train and walked one hundred yards and was there!
  • Disliked — I really didn't have any problems here!

“Great location”

The hotel is very business like rather than cosy but was in a good spot, right next to the station and it had free parking.
Rooms are Ok, we have a great view of the lake.
A good place to stay rather than a special hotel.
