“Terrrible, unfriendly hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

I stayed in this hotel for one week in August. I suppose the price doesn't correspond the quality of service (We payed 320 euro per night). The rooms and bed-linen are not clean. The members of family Schädler (owner of hotel) are absolutely unfriendly. Moreover, he is arrogant and demonstrate absolytely intolerably conduct to guests (espesially not germans). It's important to note thet hotel provide the guests with shrot-kur and medical treatments. But there are no any emergency medical assistance in the night. My mother felt very badly in the night and nobody help her. When I critisized the owner responded me in very rude way and didn't help with the luggage and transfer to railway station.
I have met such attention in the hotel at first time during my life! Be cautious!

First of all let our deepest regrets be expressed that handling the quoted case, obviously hasn’t met the expectations of the guests in question !
This has urged us to do thorough research on the matter and had us have intense talks with the employees involved in the situation.

We empathise with the above guests about this case of emergence. It naturally must have been a stress situation for them. Evidently evaluation of the situation happens in a unilateral manner.

The village of Oberstaufen offers dietetic cures on all levels of accommodation since the 1950’s. The ‘Rosenalp’ itself looks back on over 40 successful years of experience in hotel, and especially in cure and dietetic business.
It is in the nature of the matter, that during their cure, guests at times have to deal with sometimes surprising changes in their metabolism, caused by the chosen diet or cure since it poses an indentation to their typical nutrition.

For this reason Oberstaufen offers a tight network of physicians to grant 24/7 emergency care. Employees of the hotels are trained to handle such cases.

At this point it must be permitted to put things in an objective way:

Within the hotel, telephone numbers for cases of emergency are published on every room, also in English language.
The appellant decided to contact the bar-tender who immediately offered to call for help, which unfortunately was refused on notification on eventual occurring of additional costs.
The bar-tender even submitted his private phone number to keep in touch with the case.
The appellants decided to visit the physician practicing in the hotel the next morning.

The German health system offers a wide range of care for the countries citizens, since they pay for those benefits by law. To our foreign guests in the past, it has always been self-evident that they unfortunately cannot make use of the same rights.
The appellant on the other side refused to pay for the medical care given.

This fact might have aroused a feeling of misunderstanding on the owner’s side and subsequently, have led to anger on the appellant’s behalf.
We apologize for not having been able to communicate the facts in a satisfying way.

Nevertheless let us state that we take deepest concern in the well-being of our guests since it is our profession and our vocation.
We, however, do not feel to be made responsible for legal conditions.

“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

Stayed here for 5 nights - wasn't quite sure what it was going to be like as I couldn’t find many reviews anywhere. It's an Interesting place - I assumed it was going to be particular type of people people as it has this a lot of special diet and fitness programmes. The room we had was very nice we got an upgrade as the room we had booked wasn't ready. The rate seems expensive about €180 per night. Lovely area for touring around but you probably would need a car. There is a rollerbahn about 10 minutes drive away - its ok but there is one about 30 minutes away which
is unreal - make sure you get to it. It’s the longest in Germany and I would be surprised if its not the biggest in the world.
Anyway back to the hotel nice indoor and outdoor pool - there not huge but there an ok size. 3 different saunas / steam rooms - you have to enter these naked! I took a day to get used to this but then you quickly do - apparently all over Southern Germany this is
the norm - just seems to be the South though? Loads of massage therapies and all that - we didn't try these and they looked expensive. Breakfast was nice good choice of stuff. All staff are very friendly and the owner I cant remember her name shook our
hands on leaving and thanked us for staying and gave us a each a pot of honey - a nice touch. We ate in the restaurant one night - it was nice but I had expected something exceptional as it is a 4.5 star hotel! Nice bar area and loads of room around the hotel for just relaxing either indoors by the bar or common areas upstairs or else out by the
pool or sun loungers. The room I was in although very modern and I would say brand new did not have either A/C or WiFi. Free on site parking during summer months. We would spend maybe 2/3 hours a day between the pools/Jacuzzi and saunas and then head out for the day. Some days we also just chilled in the games room or the
outdoor pool for the day. We travelled as a couple - there seems to be lots of single people who go their on their own for a break too and the rates seem accommodating to people on their own i.e. a single room was around about half the price of a double - normally there is a price diff for this. Mostly Germans stay here and very little literature is in English but a number of staff have near perfect English. A little more English literature around the place would be good and possibly a brochure explaining the Oberstaufen card would also be good.

“Best Price / Performance Ratio in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2007

We stayed in this hotel with my wife 16 days in July 2007. We did the Schrothkur - the original Dr. Schrothkur treatment that you can find a lot about it. The idea was to combine the vacation with the medical necessity to loose weight, shape up and clean the body and soul. It is not a place for young people and the hotel is patronized mainly by Germans and Austrians looking for a health and wellness holidays.

Oberstaufen is the official place where the Dr. Schroth treatments are given and there is a big number of houses of all types that offer that. See at www.oberstaufen.de for the official site of the town that gives more detail.

I made a thorough research and the choice was the Rosenalp as a clear quality for money winner. After arriving to Oberstaufen I checked the other candidates and I saw that that I made the best choice.

This is a family hotel and Mr. Schaedler, the manager and owner as well as the rest of the staff are extremely helpful and efficient. We took a south facing double (the most expensive one) room and we were please with everything. we had a separate bath and toilet , walk in closed, sitting area, fast internet and all that on almost 45 square meters. they have from small singles to 75 sqm apartments.

The hotel is run at a 5 star level although it is only "4 Superior". There is a huge wellness area with saunas, indoor and outdoor pools, baths, hamam etc. In house doctor prescribes the treatments if you want. there is a in house sports trainer that offers an ongoing program from early morning till after lunch including Nordic walking, water gymnastics, gym, guided tours and more.

You can play golf, go cycling or just lay in the sun next to the pool.

Actually there was no need to leave the hotel for the whole 2 weeks.
