Our rooms were the usual two single beds pushed together, small T.V on a desk, wardrobe closets and a nice size glassed-in shower. The room is "green" in that you must put your room key card in a slot just inside the door to turn on the lights. Parking was underground right there at the hotel with in and out privileges for about 8 Euros per 24 hours. Breakfast was great. Scrambled eggs & bacon one day and scrambled eggs and broiled tomatoes the next plus the cheeses, breads, fruit and yogurt. My adult son got a kick out of the beer in the vending machine that was the same price as pop.
For internet access if you didn't bring a laptop, ask for a key to the "business center" which is a small room with a desk and computer.
Town is 15 minute walk along the river, over a bridge and a picturesque walk along the other side of the river. Bamberg was one of the few towns in Germany that was not damaged in WWII and is lovely.

I stayed here w/b 19th October. The hotel is simple but clean. The rooms are fine, the free internet is useful (it's a shame the internet leads provided by reception aren't actually long enough to reach the desk in the room!). Unfortunately, the following were an issue for me:
* on an evening it is a buffet service restuarant, the food is nice but the service is appauling - nobody seems to know what's happening;
* in the morning, the hotel was so full with conference delegates during my stay that every table in the restaurant was full at breakfast (infact it appeared that the hotel had reserved every table for the delegates). So there was nowhere to sit so didn't get breakfast during my stay. I'm am looking forward to going home so I can eat some food. I'm so hungry
* there is no room service menu;
* there is only CNN in Eglish on the TV but then this is the same at most German hotels I have stayed.

The breakfast issue is the one that made me really mad and therefore I gave this hotel a 'poor' rating. Because there is no room service, I couldn't even get breakfast in the room. I you are happy to sit on the floor in the restaurant, it won't be a problem.

I have been to Bamberg several times, staying at the Ibis and the Welcome Hotel Residenz Schloss. The Residenz Schloss was only about £20 more so if travelling on business, I would stay there instead.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Welcome for a week while visiting relatives in Bamberg. Our room was modern, comfortable, clean and well appointed. And, it was a little larger than what we have encountered in other European cities. The staff was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices. Parking in the attached undergroung garage was convenient and reasonably priced. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay.

This is a really nice hotel - one of the nicer I've stayed in and would definitely stay here again. I was in Bamberg for a conference and this is an ideal hotel for business travellers. The hotel itself is bright, clean and modern. I had a room overlooking the river and the town which was lovely. Beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were really nice. Staff were always very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good, with a large choice of croissants, bread, cereals etc. Staff were efficient at cleaning up and providing tea and coffee quickly. Internet is available in each room but unfortunately you have to pay for access, and it's quite expensive. The only downside to this hotel is that it's a fair distance from the railway station if you arrive at night as I did (but very easy to grab a taxi at the station). It takes about 25-30 minutes to walk from the hotel to the station, and about 15 minutes to walk into the town centre, but it's a very easy journey and you can walk along the river and down some of the old streets rather than following the main road if you want. If you don't want to trek 15 minutes into town for a meal after a hard day, there's a lovely gastro pub right next door to the hotel which does a lovely steak and chips, and lots of other nice meals! Bamberg itself is beautiful. Having been there a few times now, I'd go back in a second. A trip to Nuremberg is also well worth it - there are regular trains from Bamberg and it's not far at all.
