“Comfortable and modern.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2007

Very comfortable, very modern hotel with "family rooms" able to accomodate two adults with two children. Definitely the most "modern" elevator operations I've come across in a hotel.

Location is convenient - on the edge of the city centre, within walking distance of all of the city's sights. Friendly staff. Reception was a somewhat hidden desk in the middle of the restaurant, though it appears they are remodeling and installing a new reception desk next to the elevator.

The number of parking spaces in front of the hotel are limited. I ended up having to park two short city blocks away in a municipal garage. Not as convenient as front door parking, but not far enough away to be a hassle either.

Breakfast was very good, with much variety to suit our tastes.

The only issue - and a minor one at that - was that when I tried to check-out, the desk clerk was occupied with the breakfast service. It took a while to get her attention so I could settle up my bill.

  • Liked — Family room facilities that accomodated four.
  • Disliked — Limited parking.

“Great Stay - Great Staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2007

The hotel is in the perfect location, with a great staff. The bar and restaruant is full of local residents, and a great place to meet. The breakfast they serve is top shelf. The rooms are updated and comfortable. Hotels in Europe are space limited, so you must have proper expectations. The Zeppelin restaraunt has old world furniture and benches, which we were welcome to use and enjoy. They open the entire front so you can enjoy the outdoors. Just a short walk to everything. They helped us with all of our needs, and we will return again to this hotel.

“Noisy and overpriced”

The positives are that it is a lovely old building in the centre of town. The rooms are modern and it has a lift.

The negatives are that it is expensive for what it is. The reception is in the middle of the restaurant and is manned by the one person who is also the waiter/barman. The food was quickly devoured at breakfast and you had to wait for it to be replenished by the one person who was running the reception and everything else.

Hotels.com said that there was a washing machine in the hotel. There is not. The television has about 4 local stations and the satellite TV station appears to be an Austrian Ski resort.

There are no parking facilities.

“Noisy and overpriced”

Good points: It's near to the city centre and it looks lovely from the outside.

Bad points:
There is no parking at this hotel. Nearest car park is 12 Euros per night.
Breakfast has no hot food, and very little choice of cereal. Food and drink take a while to be replenished and are quickly snapped up by hungry waiting guests.
There was no working lift and our room was on the third floor of four! No help was offered with luggage.
Hotel was not tranquil and peaceful as promised. The central location has lots of traffic and windows and shutters do not keep it out.
Bathroom smells, even after daily cleaning.
Walls are thin, so you can hear other guests taking showers, slamming doors, playing music, walking up and down stairs.
Very few staff around for reception and restaurant.
Manager totally unwilling to listen to complaints and pretended not to understand me, even though he could understand English previously. He actually laughed at me as I was complaining and didn't take notes of anything I said. All he wanted was my credit card for the money.
This hotel cost us 60% more than the other 3 hotels on our trip to Germany but was much much worse.
